Publisher's summary

From New York Times best seller Lexi Ryan comes a sexy new romance novel about a runaway bride, a single dad who's sworn off love, and the kind of family secrets that can threaten to break even the deepest bonds.

You never forget your wedding day. Or the moment your twin sister pukes on your bouquet and confesses she's pregnant...with your fiance's baby.

I wanted to get away, to hide until my heart mended. I found myself in a strange town with a mysterious stranger whose talented mouth and hands almost made me forget it was supposed to be my wedding night.

Afraid to go home to face my broken life, I pretend to be my twin so I can take her job in Jackson Harbor caring for a six-year-old girl. Imagine my surprise when I find out my new boss is my mysterious stranger - Dr. Ethan Jackson.

I never meant for Ethan to discover my secrets. I never meant for them to matter. But the longer I work with him and his sweet daughter, the harder I fall and the clearer it becomes that I'm not the only one carrying a secret that could tear us apart.

It was Alright

I found this book just alright. I didn't really get invested in any of the characters. I felt bad for Nic in places but she was too much of a push over. She forgave her sister way too fast for what she did. She forgave Ethan to fast for things that he said and she wouldn't even stand up for herself really. I understand that Ethan had a hard time with his marriage and the death of his wife but I just didn't really find that a good reason to treat Nic the way he did.
I did find the brothers funny though and Teagan was the best.
For the most part, I found this book a little too long. It got a little boring at times but I did finish it so I guess that matters.

The Runaway Bride Meets The Closed Off Doctor

Nicole faces a huge betrayal and leaves her home in Alabama for a chance to start over in Jackson Harbor Michigan. She gets a job as a nanny but when the man she is working for turns out to be the sexy doctor she met at the bar the night before things get interesting.

The narration is awesome.

This could have been a 5 star but the end felt a little rushed.

Great book, awesome reader!

The book had a great storyline and was interesting (in a good way.) the person reading the book us a nice, understandable voice and reads with a lot of inflection.

I highly recommend this book.... unless you’re uncomfortable to hear a little bit of vulgarity.

Finding love just when you’ve sworn off

Imagine finding out that your identical twin is pregnant with your fiancé’s baby when you’re at the altar. This is what happens to Nicole. Heartbroken and betrayed, and having her twins’s purse, Nicole flies to Michigan where her sister was supposed to be taking a job. On the night that should have been her wedding night, Nicole is drowning her sorrows at a bar when she encounters a hot guy. They make it to her hotel room and fool around but then he has to leave for work. The next morning, she meets an old friend who had arranged for a job for her twin. Nic decides to meet with the lady and tell her the truth...that her sister is no longer available to accept the nanny position for her granddaughter. However, the woman convinces Nic to trade places with her sister...after all, it’ll only be for 3 months.
Obstetrician, widower and single dad, Ethan Jackson, has been mourning his wife for 3yrs now, and has relied heavily on his mother for childcare for his 5yo daughter. With his mom taking a prolonged trip to Europe, he needs a live in nanny. He has willingly allowed his mom handle interviewing and hiring the nanny. Imagine his surprise when the new nanny is none other than the woman from the bar. The chemistry between the pair is sizzling but there are so many secrets between them...we just know this is going to end badly.
I really enjoyed this story and appreciated the delicate way that the author brought attention to depression. This series is off to a great start and I am looking forward to finding out more about the Jackson family.

Beautiful story with a very important underlying theme

I actually read Straight Up Love first before I realized it was a series. I went back and read The Wrong Kind of Love. A story about grief, betrayal, heartbreak, healing, finding compassion and true love. Thank you to their author for addressing a topic that often has a negative stigma to it and showing that healing and hope is possible. Beautifully written book full of healing and hope with a very important message attached!

Great books!

I bought the kindle version of all 7 books and loved them. And hoped for it to be on here and they was. So I downloaded and started listening.
Notes: I just wish in nics pov when Ethan spoke it was actually the man talking and not the female speaker.
Also the only negative thing. I was they licked a picture guy to do Ethan’s part. The one who does it is very boring. I don’t like Ethan’s pov when j usually did that’s why I gave the performance 3 stars.

But I loved in the actual book how the author said she wrote it because family members with depression and even wrote in the suicidal hotlines phone number in it.

Which is 1-800-273-8255
So if anyone struggling with suicide or knows anyone please call that number. I love my mom and dad due to suicide and it’s so hard on the whole family.

It's about depression but it's not depressing

This is quite a steamy CR with a nanny trope, but the topic is depression—conquering it vs. succumbing to it. It's so well handled from the characters' points of view and the way it affects others. Just beautifully done and the author writes in her Author's Notes that it is personal to her which comes through in the way she wrote the story. It's about depression but it's not depressing. And the self-realization that the MCs and the grandma come to is really wonderful.

(Quote from the author in the Author's Notes section at the end of the book: "Depression is a bitch. It's a liar—telling us we're not enough, whispering insidious untruths that make us want to hide from everyone, to retreat from life itself. And it's a thief—stealing the joy from our days, and the confidence from our hearts. I've wanted to write a book about depression for a long time…" )

This story is kind of complex. There's a lot going on—secrets and lies and tragedy and family dynamics. It's a beautiful start to the series, introducing a large cast of characters adeptly incorporated into the story. Subsequent books in this series cover other social topics just as well and those may resonate with other readers just as much as this one did for me. At any rate this is a CR that I'm not going to forget about soon if at all. I'm pretty sure this is not going to be my last listen.

OK but not great

This book started off really well, then it lost the rise to peak my interest. I finished it and I appreciate the story. If it could have been short and to the end sooner I would rate it higher. Not sure if I will invest in the series.
