The story travelled through a time in history least touched

The flow of the narrative, the points of interest entwined with historical events and the social landscape of the period. Wonderfully and compassionately presented.

The author makes this history so real through the characters. The experiences of the characters helped me to understand what being a part of the Vietnam war would have been like. (And it’s not glamorous)

A deeply moving account of a combat nurse’s Vietnam war experience and her subsequent struggle to deal with PTSD. Brilliantly written and beautifully narrated.

The narrator was amazing and the book well written. I couldn’t stop listening. Kristin Hannah is a fabulous writer. Looking forward to reading more of her books.

How much I didn’t know about the Vietnam war.

I liked everything about this book. The pain, the loss, the endurance of Frankie. The very best book I I have ever read.

I think this might just be my favourite Kirstin Hannah book .. and I’ve read many! Coupled with Julia’s fantastic narration, this book is a masterpiece!

A privilege to learn

I learnt so much from this book, from these characters. I loved the honesty and humanity in the characters. It made realise once again that there is never just one side to a story. I feel privileged to have learnt from this book.
