Powerful, Amazing. Heartbreaking. Beautifully written!

I think this might just be my favourite Kirstin Hannah book .. and I’ve read many! Coupled with Julia’s fantastic narration, this book is a masterpiece!

A privilege to learn

I learnt so much from this book, from these characters. I loved the honesty and humanity in the characters. It made realise once again that there is never just one side to a story. I feel privileged to have learnt from this book.

The story travelled through a time in history least touched

The flow of the narrative, the points of interest entwined with historical events and the social landscape of the period. Wonderfully and compassionately presented.
