'Deliciously romantic' ERICA JAMES
Wish you were here?
When Belle's quiet, idyllic life on the coast starts to crumble, it's a stranger - thousands of miles away in Italy - who provides a shoulder to cry on. And so, when Enrico sends her a beautiful gift with a note signed off 'P.S. Come to Italy!' she decides to follow her heart.
Arriving at Enrico's palazzo in beautiful Puglia, it's clear that his life couldn't be more different than the one Belle's left behind. Yet despite his flashy cars and his glamorous, warring family, she starts to realise that perhaps Enrico needs her just as much as she needed him.
Belle's holiday of a lifetime was never about falling in love - but under the sun-kissed olive trees, anything can happen...

Keep writing stories that take place in Italy Nicky Pellegrino, and you will have me as a fan and active listener every time. And of course, please keep Jane McDowell as the narrator, she is so pleasant and easy to listen to, and I think her Italian accent is very believable.
Great work.

This book resonated with me so much I think because the main character, Belle was losing her husband to dementia. I lost my husband to something else, but related so strongly to the feelings of loss and the questioning, the “WHY” that comes after the loss of someone you love. Belle’s loss was smack in the middle of COVID as was mine, which added tremendously to the feelings of isolation and sadness.
While this sounds like a horribly sad description of this book, it really isn’t. Belle meets an Italian man in an online support group, who is going through the same thing with his wife.
The two strike up a friendship of sorts through Zoom, and in each other, they find a friend, someone who truly understands the other.
The man, Enrico invites Belle to Italy to stay with him and his family for the summer. On a whim, Belle decides to go.
Once there, Belle is surprised to find that Enrico is the head of a huge fashion house and he and his family live in a huge palazzo. Belle finds the place lovely, but his sons, daughters-in-law and his mother are not as welcoming. They are convinced Belle is there to take advantage of Enrico and is after his money. It difficult for Belle to convince them that what she and Enrico share is nothing more than friendship that developed because of shared loss.
The descriptions of Italy, the scenery, the food…it made me want to pack my bags and GO! Delicious!
Of course, there is a happy ending for Belle and Enrico, but the path to get there is complicated.
This book makes someone like me believe that perhaps there really CAN be a new life after a profound loss; at least HOPE that there is something more waiting. There are lots of interesting characters that held my interest.
Nicky Pelligrino and Jane McDowell are a wonderful team!
I would recommend this book to anyone — it’s not the fast paced mysteries I am accustomed to, but while reading the book, I felt relaxed, as if on vacation in Italy myself. BROVO Ms. Pelligrino!
A LOVELY JAUNT THROUGH THROUGH ITALY…
