Publisher's Summary

Every woman lives by a code, whether she realizes it or not. It informs how she treats others and herself, how much she expects of herself, and how far she is willing to go in order to find success. But is the code we're living by truly helping us create the lives of purpose and fulfillment we desire? Or are we sacrificing the deeper things for mere achievement?

In this inspiring audiobook, Sophia A. Nelson calls women to live out a powerful life code that will lead them to purposeful and successful lives. With the wisdom that comes from experience, Nelson reveals to women

  • the true meaning of "having it all"
  • how to take better care of their minds, bodies, and souls
  • how to achieve professional excellence without compromising their values
  • how to find lasting love and purpose in life beyond their accomplishments
  • how to navigate the sisterhood of women, to build collaboration rather than competition
  • how to heal from past hurts, rejection, and life's inevitable storms
  • and much more

The Woman Code is a way of living, of navigating life's challenges, and of interacting positively with other women. It's a way of pursuing our dreams and our deepest desires. It reveals a universal and timeless set of principles of the mind, body, and spirit that help women balance the demands of work, home, family, and friendship. The Woman Code not only calls on women to practice purpose in their lives, it shows them how to do it with grace.

A Must Read

I wish I had this wisdom in my younger years. But I must say at 60 it is still helping me now in awesome ways.

Good info, but had to stop listening

This woman's voice and demeanor became too much for me. I listen on my commute and didn't feel like it was helpful or uplifting after over a week of listening, almost made me feel bad. There were definitely some good points, but overall just not for me. Might be for someone a little older than hasn't listened to or read any self help genre before. Personally, it felt like an older Aunt talking AT me about what I SHOULD do. I realize that's premise of self help books, but it just didn't lift me up the way I feel it was intended to.

A little basic but sometimes is good to hear it

I felt the codes were basic fundamentals that we need to apply. she goes deep in explaining them. The examples are random and it's difficult to feel connected to what she is trying to explain sometimes. overall is good to hear about these basic concepts that we sometimes forget. there were also some good advices there. give it a try if you really need a good base to start building from scratch

didn't realize it would be so "spiritual"

i was not all that impressed with Ms. Nelson's 'groundbreaking' thoughts on how to break out of the female stereotype. and i did not expect this to be so religious. talking about 'your creator' in every chapter...returning this one. not really helpful to me at all.

Easy to cennect and genuine.

Necessary reminder of basics that are overlooked by most women and in a language you connect with. I did however had to ignore the parts about prayer and religion as a non-religious.

A must for all young girls & women!!

This is a replay on my list! I've recognized truths about myself, things I already new of, and new revelations that I wasn't prepared to hear. I advised all of a female gender to read.

Unintentionally Sexist...

I should have expected as much from a self-help book aimed strictly at women, but I found myself getting angry every time I began listening to this audio book. There are a lot of very helpful tid-bits hiding throughout the text (which is why I kept going), but by the time I got to 30 min left, I just couldn't do it any more and fast-forwarded through the rest.

The fact that the author assumes that her viewpoints are shared amongst all women is ridiculous. Between that and the constant "women are expected to do such & such while men get to do whatever they want"-type commentary just reinforces old stereotypes and thought processes regarding the roles of men and women in society. Regardless of how much Sophia is trying to help women, the fact is that an us vs. them mentality will do nothing to help a struggle (whether real or perceived) between men & women.

Sophia seems like a very sweet and wonderful lady who went into this with the best of intentions & I have no doubt that this book will strike a chord (and be wildly helpful) with women who are of the same mentality as her. However, this is not a book that I can get behind strictly because of all the unintentional sexist comments that pervade the entire text. It feels very much like 2 steps forward & 1 giant leap backwards with every chapter which is very unfortunate as I had high hopes going into this one.

PS: I am a woman and I would like equality, not a reversal of dominance in society.
