Publisher's summary

When Rachel accepts that she isn't going to fall in love the way others appear to, she decides she is at least going to have a fulfilling career. While her friends spend an afternoon complaining about the lack of help they receive from their husbands, one of them announces she needs her own wife to help her get her tasks done. This sparks an idea for Rachel to create an app specifically designed to help working women, the way wives help their spouses behind the scenes.

Rachel's friends are not able to understand why she would exchange a high-paying job to become an errand girl, but for Rachel, the reward is in helping her community, and she couldn't be happier. When one of her clients, a much older woman, asks her to accompany her to a work function, fate steps into action as Rachel begins her journey to self-discovery.

Loved, loved, loved it!

Strong character development, not too much angst, great narration. I especially love books that tell us what happens to the characters in the future. More please!

I have my thoughts….

I’d been waiting a long time for this to arrive on audio and it was…kinda….worth the wait? I mean, I’m glad I read it, certainly not a wasted credit! It was a lovely book, an interesting concept but I will say it was a bit odd. A few others have mentioned this but the main character’s friends are a bit awful and unsupportive (maybe that’s Middle Aged straight female friendships?) throughout. The book really only uses the app as a means to introduce the two characters, it’s not a very prominent plot point, and for a while you’re genuinely unsure if she’s really even into the love interest at all. It’s a slow burn until it’s NOT. Then once they’re together, they experience moments of insecurity that don’t quite feel earned or warranted that lead to large declarations of love which are sweet but….it just felt like I didn’t need the last hour or so of the book.

Narrator was a bit monotone (you get used to it) and a lot of the characters sounded similar except for Justine and so that made the listen a challenge in some spots. Overall, a very sweet story, I don’t want to deter anyone from reading it, it’s just very different from what I’m used to in my romance novels so I think having the context is helpful walking in! (I know it did for me, having seen another review that was critical but complimentary!)
