Living in the shadow of a decades-old crime that stole his children from him, reclusive Lars Jorgensen is an unlikely savior. But when a stranger walks onto the ice of a frozen Minnesota lake, her intentions are brutally clear, and the old man isn’t about to let her follow through.

Jenna Shaw didn’t ask for Lars’s help, nor does she want it. After he pulls her from the brink, however, Jenna finds her desire to give up challenged by their unlikely friendship. In Jenna, Lars recognizes his last chance for redemption. And in her quest to solve the mysteries of Lars’s past and bring him closure, Jenna may find the way out of her own darkness.

But the truth that waits threatens to shatter it all. When secrets are surrendered and lies are laid bare, Jenna and Lars may find that accepting the past isn’t their greatest challenge. Can they afford the heartbreaking price of forgiveness?

This is my favorite domestic thriller 2018

I literally listened to this story all day. I've been blessed with a few exceptional "reads" this year. Psychological thriller, not horror. Woman loses entire family in plane crash and takes their ashes and intends to die with them. She is saved by an older, grumpy man with a painful mystery in his past; and a cast of characters so real, I forgot they were fiction. The best "trinket" is the women (main character) sometimes hears her teenage daughter talking to her;.No paranormal elements. I can't say anything else without giving story elements away. 5/5 stars!

Speechless

This was my first time listening the one of the authors 📚. I was so pulled to the narrator 's excellent voice of each person in the book! Between her and this story I fought with myself to stop listening at that time. OMG.. I was drawn so deep into the story! I was drawn in deeper and deeper as the story unfolded. Not thinking that it would pull me deeper, but it did!!
This book was excellent!
The Author is captivating! Fantastic AUTHOR!!!

Excellent story. Lots of twists and turns Not pr

An unpredictable story of two very different people dealing with grief. The story was excellent but I had difficulty with the narrators attempt at a Minnesotan accent. I have family in Minnesota and found the fraudulent accent distracting. I am from Boston and am horrified when people think they speak the accent of a Bostonian.

Love how the storyline unfolded...

I wasn't sure about this is the beginning, a lady determined to kill herself. I almost stopped listening, glad I saw this one through to the end! Kept my attention, wanted to get to the unraveling of the mystery!!
I would listen again....and recommend to a friend!

Riveting!

I found this story painful then healing which I am so grateful for.
It made me face my own sorrow and loss. A fascinating mystery
Taking unsuspecting turns reminding us to appreciate what we have every day and not assume what appears is always what it seems.
It teaches that we are stronger than we know.......have faith.

Story excellent..ending too quick & fast..narration TERRIBLE

I’m making this quick cuz I’m a little ticked off‼️ This story had a great beginning, but then it completely went into a different direction and the title “The Widows Watcher” seemed to be an odd title? I was sure it was going to concentrate more than it did on the main character, but as usual, this author seems to add another book into a book?! I’m not going to give anything away, but for 30 years a family was looking for loved ones, and this woman comes in, who’s already depressed and solves the search in a matter of days..HUH?! Then we have an epilogue that just neatly ties up each end...nope..the last chapter & epilogue ruined the whole story line.

On top of the whole thing. I had to connect my iPhone to my CAR RADIO so I could hear THIS BOOK!! Every single line the narrator said in the characters emotions & others were done in a “dramatic whisper” I was actually loosing it towards the middle!! I only listened to the end to see what happened...which I can honestly say I didn’t see it coming..but instead of making it more interesting the author ENDED IT..so glad I didn’t pay for this and it’s on Kindle Unlimited..Sorry I like books without endings done quickly and narrators I CAN HEAR WITHOUT SO DAMN DRAMATIC EMOTIONAL WHISPERS!!

Rippling effect of the decision we make

Not exactly the type of book I would typically read or search out for but an interesting read nevertheless. I have to confess that I do judge a book by its cover. I love book covers. And I liked this one. I really enjoyed the choice of words to describe the characters and their surroundings. It took me a minute to catch on that she’s hearing the voice of her dead daughter and not really talking to her but I guess that’s what gives the story a mysterious beginning. Getting towards the end, I liked how the author wrapped the entire story around everyday decision we make in life and their consequences. How one act, not much thought about at the given time can ripple to change the very life we will be living.

Mum moment of peace

Got it on audio book, had a few late night's listening to it, was extremely seductive to listen to the more you got into the storyline and characters.
