Publisher's Summary

From New York Times best-selling author Carolyn Brown comes a heartwarming short story about how the most precious gifts come in unexpected packages.

A week before your wedding is no time for your ex to ride back into town, stirring up trouble. But that’s exactly the predicament Darla McAdams finds herself in. With practically the entire town of Tishomingo, Oklahoma, in attendance, the last place she wants to be is at her grandparents’ 60th wedding anniversary party with the whole family, her fiancé and her old flame all in the same room.

Darla’s grandmother Roxie has seen many a bride tested, and she knows Darla is at a crossroads. It’s time to share the truth about Roxie’s own marriage to Darla’s grandfather - and the gift that saved their marriage so many years ago. By revealing secret after secret, the most startling involving a television set, Roxie gives Darla a wedding gift she’ll cherish forever, but only Darla can listen to what’s inside her heart and know who she’s meant to say “I do” to.

Too Short

This book was very good for what there was. I hate the fact that Plus has taken the place of Escape. Absolutely no comparison! The majority of books on plus are very short Audible originals.

So predictable 🥴

Just when you think that there might a twist to the story everybody does the right thing and they all live happily ever after. I like stories with a little more substance.

Amazing Short Story!

Carolyn Brown writes the perfect short story. Darla, bride to be takes a hard look at her fiance and ex. Who will she choose? Thankfully she has sassy Grandparents who share the secrets of their 60 year marriage to help her decide. The story is set a small town in Oklahoma. It is full of the southern charm and sass Carolym Brown is known for. I am sure you will enjoy it as much as I did.

Cute, predictable, juvenile

I found this book to be too sticky sweet and extremely predictable. Maybe if I were a teenager it would resonate with me more readily

Reflective with twist

Great short story well preformed. Reflected back to two generations with a nice twist. Had me crying at the end.

The wedding gift

So classic Carolyn Brown. I loved the story. Carolyn’s characters represent the struggles of real life with people making the best decisions, being brave and strong and holding family close. Adorable story. Please write more. And Brittany Pressley is the BEST narrator. She brings books to life!

The Wedding Gift

The best part was the true story of the grandparents. Marriage is not easy but sticking to it is best.

Thoroughly delightful!!

A thoroughly delightful mini romance from an author whose books I really enjoy! I love her stories about life in a small southern town where everyone knows your name and the gossip chain becomes a hand-me-down from generation to generation. I especially enjoyed Brittany Pressley’s superb performance. If I didn’t know better I would think she had half a dozen helpers in the booth with her.

Well worth the short listen

I like the author and the narrator so I gave it a go. I do not usually go for such short books, but is was really worth the listen.
