Story
When the Emancipation Proclamation was signed in 1863, the black community owned less than one percent of the United States' total wealth. More than 150 years later, that number has barely budged. The Color of Money pursues the persistence of this racial wealth gap by focusing on the generators of wealth in the black community: black banks. The catch-22 of black banking is that the very institutions needed to help communities escape the deep poverty caused by discrimination and segregation inevitably became victims of that same poverty.

Story
The most improbable approach toward American civil rights for Black citizens blended the beliefs of Booker T. Washington and W. E. B. Du Bois, and it was spearheaded by global activist Marcus Aurelius Garvey. The Jamaican began his career as an activist with a devotion to Washington’s path, but he subsequently leaned to the alternative and beyond. Beyond the worldview of both colleagues, Marcus Garvey’s bigger-than-life scheme was to establish a Black-owned and managed shipping line to transport much of America’s Black population back to Africa.

Publisher's Summary
Approximately 35 percent of African Americans had no measurable assets in 2009, and 24 percent of these same households had only a motor vehicle. Dennis Kimbro, observing how the weight of the continuing housing and credit crises disproportionately impacts the African-American community, takes a sharp look at a carefully cultivated group of individuals who've scaled the heights of success and how others can emulate them.
Based on a seven-year study of 1,000 of the wealthiest African Americans, The Wealth Choice offers a trove of sound and surprising advice about climbing the economic ladder, even when the odds seem stacked against you. Listeners will learn about how business leaders, entrepreneurs, and celebrities like Bob Johnson, Spike Lee, L. A. Reid, Herman Cain, T. D. Jakes, and Tyrese Gibson found their paths to wealth; what they did or didn't learn about money early on; what they had to sacrifice to get to the top; and the role of discipline in managing their success.
Through these stories, which include men and women at every stage of life and in every industry, Dennis Kimbro shows listeners how to develop a wealth-generating mindset and habits; commit to lifelong learning; craft goals that match your passion; make short-term sacrifices for long-term gain; and take calculated risks when opportunity presents itself.

Faith-Based
This book is filled with struggles, dreams, and overcoming obstacles in your life. I believe it's a great book to motivate the faith-based individual.
For those who are not believers, I think it can be a deterrent because it is difficult to get through the message when you're inundated by religious overtones and the barrage of redirection by way of biblical scriptures.
With the majority of African Americans that still follow and believe it may be what they want to hear. For the the pragmatic, realistic aspiring business man or woman It was daunting to sift through much of the verses to maintain attention to the true reason for reading this book. Which was soley black wealth-building.

a Great Book. Well worth it.
Well worth the purchase. He jumps right into the info and keeps you going with minimal fluff. The cadence is a good tempo, far from boring. It even held my girlfriend's attention and she gets bored very quick. It's one of my favorite books and I've been with Audible for years. The only thing I'd change about the book is its cover. It's such a powerful book, the cover belies its contents. - Glenn Avery Muhammad

Not a get rich quick book: A what are you waiting for book.
The Wealth Choice touched on a lot of topics I already knew about, but never paid attention to. It was encouraging to hear that a lot of the millionaires interviewed for this book had similar backgrounds as myself prior reaching their success. Basically, the examples used and the people interviewed in The Wealth Choice do not allowing the reader to continue to make the same excuses. This not a get rich quick book, however it is book that challenges the reader to think of the creation of wealth on a broader scale.
