Publisher's Summary

When King Werewolf shows up in Veterinarian Vee Scarpa’s ER, she’s livid. Her father, the North American head honcho vampire, has threatened a chilling warning if she “accidentally” helped a wolf again, especially since they’re at war. But she’s tempted by the sexy wolf. And his deadly blood calls to her in a way that should set off warning bells.... A promise to his brother-in-arms obliges Lexan Dimitrov to rescue the aristocrat vampire before her family discovers her secret - a secret Vee herself isn’t even aware of.

What he didn’t expect was to find her sexy as hell. He’s not into vamps, yet the inescapable heat building between them is a delicious temptation guaranteed to end in total disaster.

Decent

If you’re in a pinch, and it’s on sale, it’s a decent story to pass the time. A young vampire doctor and reluctantly betrothed ‘princess’ falls for an ancient-in-years but hot-in-body werewolf king. All in all, it works. The mythology is sparse but interesting, and the chemistry between Velvet (yes, that’s her name), and Lexan is compelling. They have definite heat between them. As for the rest, the couple is surrounded by well-developed side characters.

In the negative column, the risk level laid out by the narrative and the action of the plot do not coalesce. There are also questions left unanswered or glossed over by a rushed ending. It’s as if the destination of HEA is more important than the journey it took to get there. In this case, less is just less than I need to warrant more than a 3-star rating.

Performance A+; Story needed improvement

There have been times when a narrator takes away from the story but this was not the case. Avery Reid did a great job with the material she had to work with. She is the main reason I stuck it out to the end and my stubbornness.

As for the story. It was difficult to listen to. I felt like the female main character was supposed to be a well-educated woman that was born into the supernatural community. Having experienced it for 70+ years or something. What a heard was a whiney vampire that needed to be smacked in the face with a get-a-clue stick. She was acting like a petulant child that wouldn’t listen to reason or blatant facts that were waving in her face like a red flag. I tried but could not like her character at all. It wasn’t written badly, so I will give book two a chance to see if the character development with those two lovely people are better.

🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

the female main character was such a winney ass crybaby, I had to stop listening. I couldn't take it anymore, just saying the same stuff over an over an over....reminded me of the books were you pay as you go and have to buy the chapters.

Not enough to make me want to read the rest

I has a hard time finishing the story. It wasn't interesting enough to keep my attention. The characters don't make me feel for them. The heroine does not seem very smart or capable. I will not be getting the other books in this series.

Underworld rip off

The book was ok. It did feel very "Underworld." The narrator went from all right to cringe worthy. I honestly listened to this one because it was free. I think better narration might make this more bearable.

Boring

I was looking forward to listening to this but I thought it was pretty boring and was just going nowhere. She fought everything (her attraction and feelings for Lexon and the fact that she was a halfbreed) till near the end which got really annoying plus I felt like nothing was really happening. I thought the narrator did a good job but her werewolf accent sounded like a vampire accent to me. I won't be listening to the second book.

Great book.

Great chemistry between characters and the side stories really pull the book together. but there are holes in the story that could be filled in. It was read very well.

Nope

Thank God this was free, and I didn't waste a credit on this $#!+ ! The female lead is the stupidest, whiniest thing I've read/listened to in a long time. Why are people rating this so high? I kept waiting for it to get better but by chapter 17, I couldn't take it anymore, which is saying a lot as I'm not hard to entertain when it comes to books of this type. The male narration wasn't bad but ultimately not enough for me to continue to listen to the sniveling female. I gave the performance and story two stars for the male characters and the story had potential. Read if you want an exercise in extreme patience.

narrator shed of been replaced

I liked the story as much as I could follow. The narrator was so bad that I couldn't figure out who was talking, all the vamps spoke the same and all the wolves spoke the same and some times she merge her voice so I was never sure was saying what. Definitely one to read yourself.

unsure

Performance was really good. The accents we’re amazing and got me in the feel for this book. However one of the characters really annoyed me. the main girl, Vee, could not make her mind up and I got to about 2 hours left of the book and had to turn off. she annoyed me that much!

Enjoyable story

The story is really good and well written.
Low rating on the narrating-sorry- her voice is really nice unfortunately when performing different characters it is really hard to make the distinction between them as there is little to no difference heard.

KEPT ME HOOKED FROM START TO FINISH

I was pleasantly surprised...I have been binge listening to paranormal romance suspense stories recently and have skipped over this title a few times before deciding to give it a try. Let me tell you the little synopsis about the story doesn't do it justice. There was far more depth and story plot line then I expected. The reading and voice acting is well done and characters are well balanced. It was just a great easy listen, that kept me hooked from start to finish. I have listened to both books in this series and hope there will be more, as the storyline still has more to give.
