Publisher's summary

"This book is both timely and needed. Provocative, yes, because the message is essential at this decisive 'hinge moment' in time." (Philip Yancey)

"The Way Back is the way forward." (Erwin McManus)

"The Way Back is a much-needed wake up call for the Church...we've wandered for far too long." (Christine Caine)

On a dusty hilltop, Jesus once kick-started his church with a ragtag group of fishermen who called themselves "The Way". Truth be told, the builders of Christianity were a bunch of nobodies. They were powerless and flawed and sometimes petty. But they were committed. They were all-in.

Within a remarkably short time, The Way became the world's most influential religious faith - a force in culture, politics, literature, science, philanthropy, and the arts. Against impossible odds, that group of nobodies astonished the world. Two thousand years later - by any measure - Christianity is retreating on all fronts. The Way has lost its way.

In The Way Back, media and marketing experts Phil Cooke and Jonathan Bock take a hard look at Christians today and reveal that we, as a salesforce, have lost our faith in our product. Where's the passion, the excitement, and the commitment that 2,000 ago made such improbable and staggering growth possible? The Way Back will inspire and equip you to learn from that wonderful group of nobodies, so that you too can astonish the world once more.

What ever long-time Christian needs to hear!

Phil Cooke is an excellent communicator/writer. I have been following him now for years and throughly enjoyed his work. This book shares with audiences the way we as believers can become important once again. It’s nothing new age or progressive - just simple facts and ways for us disciples to share our passion for Christ!

Some of the authors quoted 👀😬

Yeah, this hasn’t aged well… especially in light of recent events with Brian Houston, Andy Stanley, Russell Moore, and the current CEO of Chick-fil-a, etc… but there were some good points made…

Regarding the story of the millionaire becoming a janitor in a gay bar the authors state the people at the gay bar see Christians differently but don’t say anything other than that. So… I guess, if we make people who are on the highway to hell not hate us as much that’s mission accomplished then???🤷‍♂️

This almost 5-year old book needs some major revisions… and it’s no wonder the tide hasn’t turned much… Big Eva Christians continue to blow their credibility (especially in 2020-2021) and they’ve not gotten an ounce of it back since they shut down their churches during the “summer of love…”
