Reject pride of ownership in pursuit of a higher mission.

Christian organizations have come to be known mostly for what we're against. And all too often, that includes being against each other. But amid growing distrust of religious institutions, Christ-centered nonprofits have a unique opportunity to link arms and collectively pursue a calling higher than any one organization's agenda.

Rooting for Rivals reveals how your ministry can multiply its impact by cooperating rather than competing with others, modeling Christlike love and generosity in the process. Peter Greer and Chris Horst explore case studies illustrating the power of collaborative ministry. Writing with vulnerability, they also share their own failures and successes in moving toward a kingdom mindset.

In Rooting for Rivals, you'll discover the key to revitalizing your ministry and making an enduring difference in the world.

Wow! This is an amazing book. I work with so many nonprofits and I plan on giving this book to them. What was most amazing is that it also helped me on a personal level to see my own gluttony and greed. Thank you thank you thank you thank you!!

This is a true framework for how the Body of Christ can truly make a significant Kingdom Building impact when we lay aside our own agendas and recognize we are on the same team where Jesus Christ is the head. I love it!!!

Love everything about this. And I’m genuinely humbled by their honesty and vulnerability. I appreciate the real life stories. It moves you from knowledge (something we all technically “know”) to real action. Deep thanks to the authors.

I like the big picture, Kingdom approach. I enjoyed the stories of reluctant collaborations turned into friendships. And I liked acknowledging the fear, envy, and silos present in nonprofits. Reading this several years later, I believe it needs updating. For example, what is happening with US YMCAs? Did this book make an impact? I believe the teachings expressed here are more understood and desired than five years ago, maybe due to a combination of books like this and the trauma bonding Christianity has experienced on several fronts since this book was published. Still there's uncertainty and a need for faith and hope. SO update, please.

Must read for faith-based nonprofits
