And the suspects are all above reproach: the celebrated Principal, the cautious bursar, the wise librarian, and a raft of benign students and academics.

But someone in the college wanted the kindly chaplain dead… and looks can be very deceiving.

New setting for Max

Complex story, interesting setting. It’s always hard to see a beloved character away from the setting that one is used to. But the book was very enjoyable nonetheless.

A long wait for this book and worth it!!

I truly like Max Tudor because of his kindness without being maudlin, his intelligence and his all round personality. The author approaches societal problems and groundless negative attitudes with sensitivity.

We need more authors that create mysteries without the raw edge of over descriptive gore, violence for its own sake and foul language that gets really old really fast. We definitely need lots more G.M. Malliet, especially the works featuring Max Tudor!

I love Father Max.

Im so glad that Father Max is back. Mallory has a way of drawing the listener into the stories and how people are thinking. I loved the prior series and I am so glad to have Hope that there is going to be another series to continue. The narrator is a little enthusiastic butI am used to him after all of these books.
