A heartwarming and empowering novel about thriving after tragedy, from the author of the “enchanting, hilarious, and insightful” (Patti Callahan Henry, New York Times author) My Magnolia Summer.

Violet Adams is the perfect, youngest child in a family of loud, passionate women on Sullivan’s Island, South Carolina. As the sweet, traditional one, she’s always been the steady hand in her family but after a sudden breakup and subsequent tragedy, she doesn’t know who she is anymore.

Aly Knox, Violet’s best friend, is a young influencer still struggling with the loss of her mother and adjusting to joining Violet in Southern living. With her best friend’s help, Violet is determined to break out of her shell—and who she thought she was—no matter what. And what better place to look for success, meaning, and possibly love than the Lowcountry of South Carolina?

The narrators were hard to listen to, had to speed up speed so it made it ok to listen to there voices. The story was ok, predictable, the jumping around with to many details and then without many details to make time pass was frustrating. Like the author is trying to squeeze way too much in. The detailed abusive/forceful sex scenes din’t go with the mood of the rest of the story.
I miss the authors mother’s books!

Finished the characters storyline

Beautifully written. Reminded me of her mother but with her own style and spin on the story. Can’t wait of her next book!

I liked the next book in this series. There was a lot of emotion in this book.

Another great book set in Charleston!

Was this Violet's story or Allie's? I was terribly confused about everything in this book. At the end of the Epilogue, I was no clearer about the plot than when I started. There was just no reason for some of the plot lines. I had to continually go back over 'chapters to see what I was missing. But it was the final chapter and Epilogue that had me scratching my head. They made no sense to me at all. Was Joyce for real? Friend or foe? Was Allie's dad blind or desperate? what purpose did Chris serve? And. Henry? And Charlie? Color me dazed and confused. it seems overkill to say that the Violet narrator got on my last nerve. I was sorry not to like this because I was a huge fan of her mother's books.

Whose story was this??

This was a good book. Interesting and moving. I had to really focus on which character was talking and who they were. I think VBF has grown so much since her last book and look forward to her future books. She is her mother’s daughter!

Love the Low Country
