Publisher's Summary

If you want to discover the captivating history of the Victorian era, then pay attention....

When Queen Victoria stepped onto the throne of Great Britain and Ireland in 1837, gone were the days when the monarch had supreme authority over the kingdom. Victoria ruled at the head of a government with which she was meant to converse, debate, and ultimately guide, and it was a job she sometimes struggled to perform. Victoria described herself as an emotional creature and blamed her gender for what she believed were her shortcomings as a monarch.

Great insight in a complex rulet.

This book showed me so much more about the Queen. That time in history was very busy. She was family to almost all of Europe and Russia.

I learned a lot about English history from this

Great book. Much detail and explains the relationships in the family that would head up most of the warring nations over the 20th century.

The more info the better. Do your homework

A well-written fine history of the 19th Century and plentiful in its summary of the personality, politics, and family of the great dynastic queen.

Gave Her Name to an Era

New insights into a well-known story, but this biography takes the woman to live. It is as if the author recognizes her personally, and can convey this to the user. simply the best on this monumental subject!

Not for beginners, but very interesting

I liked the writer seldom stepping out from behind the biographer's mask to tell us what she thought and why especially in cases where there is no way to come to a firm and exact result.

Superb psychological and political biography

This book is an elegant psychological and political biography of Victoria. It skips over many details in her life and is not an account of her day-to-day reality and family life so much as it is a survey of the various periods in her long life.

Royalty Buffs Will Like This One

A different perspective from the traditional view of QV. Often about the early years of her reign. Very exciting. Moves along.

very interesting life story

The story takes you into the years she spent with Albert and various events in history. I thought it was a very enjoyable book and I learned a lot about the royal families and the problems they faced. I don't believe I would have needed to trade places with any of them. To have only one life and to have to live it being dictated to by power and family would be hard. I would advise the story if you are a history buff.

A comprehensive factual presentation of all that

Victoria was an amazing Queen. She may have been as deeply flawed as all humans are, but for her era, she was a remarkable woman.

well written historical experience

It is a book not only on Victoria, but especially on her husband; without his opinions and decisions she may not have been such a successful queen. It is the best book I have read on the history of the so-called Victorian age.

Captivating

The newest biography on Queen Victoria, Captivating History's Victoria is a well researched and well written exploration of one of the most famous women who has ever lived- and who is probably known more by the mythology surrounding her and her reign than the reality.
