A Great Book

Reading this history of England shows just how much of modern fantasy books pull from English history. Amazing to see just how violent the past really was.

I Liked It

It is a very good, very interesting and informative audiobook, I recommend this audiobook to all.

Move through a seemingly epic period in English history but displays some bias with regard to certain institutions

Good One

This is a terrific history written by a specialist historian but not a specialist historian of the English. Well written and full of fascinating insights. I've been listening to the audible version as I drive around in the car, then reading over the same material in the book when I'm home - it is a pleasure, not a necessity, to do this.

Impressive

This is the best book. Must read. Witty, elegant, informative and entertaining. There never was and never will be a better English history book.

Very Detailed Account

If you want details...... endless, exact, and often interesting details.... about what happened in the British Isles and the lands with people affecting the British Isles... this book gives those details.

Robotic

The narrator reads like he has no idea what he’s talking about and many many embarrassing mispronunciations

So Good

Great author from a different era, writing according to the knowledge available in his time.

Full Stars

Although history is very interesting, the text itself is the best part of this book: Hume could write about how to cook soup, still I'm sure he would make it worth reading. He definitely produced the best English texts I've ever read, this is a great example of his work and, although it is a history book, it reads as easily as the best romances do.

Recommended

Great overview of the whole history of the country and their monarchy. It is really good.
