Their death. Our glory!

The Lottery is the chance of a lifetime. The one and only hope a girl has to escape certain death as a sacrificial soldier, fighting the bloodthirsty, flesh-tearing monsters that roam freely beyond The Wall. Put in your name, and if chosen, become wife to the powerful and gorgeous leader of the last of humanity, Lord Noah Sands. A supposed living god amongst the last of humankind.

For 17 years, Scarlett has lived as just such a soldier. Trained from birth to kill without question, and ready to die without complaint. Along with her group of misfit friends, she loves exploring the lost world beyond The Wall and fighting for humanity’s freedom.

For Scarlett, winning The Lottery is a fate worse than death. It means turning her back on her secret lover, and worse, giving up the freedom being a killer gives her. No chance. But Lord Noah Sands has only ever had eyes for Scarlett, and when he threatens the man she truly loves, Scarlett must make an impossible choice. Put her name into The Lottery and marry the monster. Or become something not even he can control. Something that will kill her quickly, if she’s not careful.

To save the man she loves, she'll risk everything. Her life. Her freedom. Even her humanity. "

The Walking Dead meets The Hunger Games in this gripping dystopian fantasy of love against all odds and life or death stakes.

Great Surprise

The narration was fantastic and a good pace. I normally don't like books about zombies but this book was a great surprise. Main character was well done and the story developed evenly throughout the book.

Great strong female presence.

I don't want to give away spoilers but scarlet is definitely a strong leading female. The store has a great plot the loss was little predictable but I believe it's setting the author is setting up for mysteries to be unraveled. I'm not normally a post apocalyptic type person but I can say that I enjoyed the characters and the way the story unfolds. Going to read part 2 now. So far I will follow this author, hopefully there will be some fantasy novels next.

I wasn’t sure at first but DAMN !!!!!

I wasn’t sure I was going to enjoy a post apocalyptic adventure, but this book is amazing there is No Lull in the middle no fillers just a solid great story from beginning to end and the narrator Amy Putt is great you can tell the characters apart without even being told who is saying what ….. is it too early to call it a masterpiece???? I’ll do it anyways A MASTERPIECE

Not my normal genre but wow!

The author sent me a code to listen for free but my review will be honest. When I first started listening I thought omg, I don’t read about zombies and I would have never chosen to purchase a book about them! I’m so glad I was given the first one free because I absolutely love it! The storyline is different and is full of twists and turns! The world building is done well and you can see how this series can go far because there’s so much more that can happen in this world. The characters are diverse and the relationships suck you in. There’s life and death and love and hate and everything in between. The zombies are different and darn scary! The author has done a beautiful job with this book and I can’t wait to read the second book! Give it a try, it’s well worth it!

Great Story!

MFC Scarlett is a soldier who LOVES her work and beyond the wall it awaits in this highly engaging Dystopian Sci-Fi thriller.
The audio version aptly depicted the unfolding dramatis with the arresting narration of Amy Putt which will sweep you into this complex world as it has been imagined by the author.
Full of danger and violence from within as well as without and a friend to lover’s romance there is so much to dissect in this tale including the close bonds invariably formed into a family by the circumstances of just everyday survival in this gripping world.
As this was part one the ending is not an HEA but continues in part two which I cannot wait to devour.

Surprising!

I am not a fan of zombie related books, film or anything related to zombies but I accidentally purchased this book and I didn’t hate it. The story was interesting and entertaining. I loved the strong female MC and her eclectic band of misfits. The overall novel was well thought out. It was a fun with lots of thrills, action and fights for survival. There are also some sensitive and troubling elements that may trigger some people but ultimately a great first novel. The story ended on a awesome cliffhanger so book two is a certainty.

So Fantastic

Sucked in from the very beginning! The story was entertaining and so descriptive I could have been there myself. I felt all of the emotions Scarlett felt and loved every minute of it.

Surprised me.

I went into this book blind, only knowing it was "fantasy" (which it really isn't).

The present tense pov plus the zombies are typically something I avoid like the plague, but the personalities of the characters really kept me listening and it did till the very end.

The only major issue I have with the book is the main character. Her short temper gets incredibly exhausting. She constantly has outbursts then apologizes for it right after every single time but never develops to the point of saying "Let me hold myself back and try to understand". I also feel like she's way too loved by everyone, a person like that wouldn't have people forgiving her so easily.

The supporting characters are great though, aside from the points where when they forgive her so easily or take her side in an argument where she's clearly wrong.

As for the performance by Amy Putt: She may have very well been the reason I kept listening, even when I was frustrated with Scarlet.

T.LD.R. I loved the supporting characters but wasn't fond of the main character. The performance was absolutely perfect.
