The threat of my blood union to Vlad Dracula looms over me. Though I am no longer his prisoner, Vlad Dracula’s voice echoes in the recesses of my mind. His blood binds us together in a twisted matrimony in spite of the deep hatred for him that burns within my soul. We are in a small room with the vampire, face-to-face, as he speaks - as he pours out the hypnotic, shocking, moving, and erotically charged confessions of his first 200 years as one of the living dead...He speaks quietly, plainly, even gently...carrying us back to the night when he departed human existence as heir - young, romantic, cultivated - to a great Louisiana plantation, and was inducted by the radiant and sinister Lestat into the other, the "endless", life...

Horrible narration
“He lahvs hah! Tempah! Ah ah ah! Is it really necessary for our narrator to darn near shout every line. I tried. I reeeeally tried to give her a chance despite reviews and not liking the sample piece offered. Was there an accent mark above any word ending in the letters “er”? And pronouncing it as “AH!” each time? The voice was grating. The heroine’s voice was stilted and monotonous. I think I’ll charge my kindle and use my text-to-speech option

Entertaining second book....
i have been a fan for many years of Frater. this book did not disappoint!
Following the aftermath of Lady Glynis' marriage to Dracula and new vampire life, we are thrust head first into action, drama, and bloody murder! While I personally wished for a bigger ending, I am in love with the characters. I hold my breath for their happy ending always knowing that you can't always have happy (or ending, for that matter,) when vampires are involved! The narrator did a decent job, though I am partial to the first in book 1. I did read these books one after the other so It was very easy to compare.
Overall I was pleased and recommend this book, only after reading the first, The Tale of the Vampire Bride.

Narrator needs to TAKE A BREATH
I enjoyed the Vampire Bride, but returned this book. The narrator was like listening to someone on ramble on without taking a breath. The voices for characters were so similar that without pausing, the listener has no idea which character is talking. To irritating to listen to.

Well done, and no, the narrator is not a Screamer
I thoroughly enjoyed this audio-book, and despite the misplaced criticism of some listeners towards it narrator, I cannot imagine anyone else breathing life into the tale. As for the world of Countess Dracula itself, the author has created a complex and believable universe that brings new depth to the vampire mythos. I will definitely continue with this series with Ms. McKernan serving as my guide.

As good as the first book.
This is a very dark vampire story in parts and may not be to everyone's taste. Some of the story may be triggering for some people, but it is a good take on the dracula story.

Great story - awful narration
I love Rhiannon’s work. I especially like her Zombie fiction.
I’m sure I would have loved reading this book - however the narration was awful.
I kept checking to see if I’d accidentally put it on fast speed! The narrator seemed be shouting the story at a fast rate.
I felt it was a trial to get through and was almost relieved to finish it. Which is really sad as Rhiannon’s work is fabulous and this certainly does not do her justice as an author.
