Wonderful!

Great story with beautiful writing :) I wish I could have tagged along with Josephine and seen the beautiful speakeasy for myself. Great story! I loved every moment of it!

Fell a little flat…

On the premise I thought the story was very interesting. But the story in reality fell a little flat. The book had a hard time keeping my interest. Character development and storyline development just wasn’t there for me. However, the narrator did a great job with the reading of the story.

Just wow!

I highly recommend this book! The story is very creative and has many surprises that untwirl their way throughout, all surprises are revealed before the end of the book. It also deals with a some time travel from the main character’s present, 2027, to the jazz age in 1927 (100 years later), in a VERY creative and interesting way. After a 15 year of marriage, Josephine Reynolds husband, a cardiologist, dies an untimely death. Josephine is stuck and is having a great deal of difficulty recovering from her loss. Her sister, a relator, convinces Josephine to buy their ancestral home, a Craftsman bungalow that her uncle once owned, that is in disrepair and foreclosure. Josephine and her sister discover that there is a hidden speakeasy in the basement of the home. None of the aforementioned will ruin the book for you. From here, the story takes off like a lightening bolt. And, the author’s note at the end telling the listener/reader how the idea of this story came to her 15 years prior to her writing it, was very interesting.

Time travel

I loved the story. It was such a fun one to read. I hated this narrator though. She does not read smoothly. Her words are jagged or shaky. I’m not sure how to describe it but she’s not one that I enjoyed listening to.
But the story was fantastic. Gave lots of emotions. I highly recommend the book but not the audio.

Family Connecting

I did not expect to like time traveling but this book changed my mind totally. I felt like I was there with Josephine.
