Inaccurate information and a poor writer.

The author of this book uses the word "however" to begin almost every sentence in this entire book. He is far from professional, and is an immature writer. There are SEVERAL misrepresentations and flat out lies in this book.

The Ultimate Serial Killer Collection: True Crime Stories and Biographies of Ted Bundy and more
: Charles Clark

I can't say how accurate the "facts" are in this book. They are presented in short recaps of each serial killers crimes. Other authors have done this in a more informative manner. These range widely in time and location.

The narration was well OK, Merrick Pearce worked with what was presented.

There are Better Books Out There

I had high hopes for this book. I love true crime stories and this one had such potential. I don't know just how much of the information is inaccurate but I do some of it is which makes me wonder if there's any truth at all. I also wasn't impressed with the writing. There's no reason to start so many sentences with however. The narration was well done by Merrick Pearce. Sadly he did the best he could with the material he was given. If you are looking for well written true crime books then I suggest you checking out Jack Rosewood or Ryan Green.

God-awful

This book was terrible. Writing was substandard. However, climax, and consummated were used too often.

incorrect facts

personally I wouldn't recommend this book it's a big waste of time. I definitely am a true crime fanatic. that's what happens when your parents are lawyers. Ed gein did not live in the 1990s!!! once they get to the end game chapter it is stated that Ed Dean's crimes be was carried out during the 1990s? how could you miss that fact? the person writing this surely knows the Texas chainsaw massacre that was based off of him! was filmed before the 1990s I think pretty sure. either way when I heard that I started looking around in fact checking some of the topics in this book and there are a few that are wrong shame on the author who wrote this book. you wasted 4 hours of my life....

Incorrect information

I could not finish this book due to the information being incorrect. Ted Bundy did not convert to the Methodist church, it was the Mormon church. there are plenty other incorrect things in this book as well.

Inaccurate Information

I have studied the information related to this book for many years and there is too much inaccurate Information here. This book seems to be a mix between fact and fiction. The distortion of facts involving supposed abuse of Bundy as a child (totally false), attempts to blame abuse for his deviant behaviors. Those of us who study this case know it was pornography, not any kind of abuse, that most influenced his fate.

Words that are cringe worthy.

Struggled to finish. crazy array of descriptors. "Smote his head" dark fathoms" and so many more. These words would be odd in fiction. but true crime? The narrator is excellent at delivery.

Great introduction...

Great introduction to some of history’s most infamous serial killers - although concise, many important details were left out and thus, as an avid investigator of these crimes, I didn’t feel the chapters had enough depth as I’d like... though completely entertaining for the novice enthusiast xx

A tough listen for the wrong reasons

So much wrong with this book. The narrator's voice is often flat and monotonous. At times sentences make little sense as if the author doesn't know how to use adjectives properly. Sometimes the choice of words seems random or ill fitting, like they have been picked from a thesaurus to make the text sound more exciting or intelligent. In reality it just sounds like poor English. Also, for a true crime book it is riddled with information that is just factually incorrect. It's not the worst I've ever listened to but after several chapters I had to give up because it was just irritating.

Less detail than Wikipedia, poor writing

The book skims over facts- you will get more details on Wikipedia pages dedicated to each serial killer. No research done beyond widely available knowledge and not as detailed as a book on the subject should be. The writing is terrible, almost as if a robot had written it, or perhaps a 10 year old child who is learning how to build a sentence correctly and is following the learnt logic with each sentence. It’s very repetitive in term of phrasing- words ‘however’ and ‘sadly’ are used so much, it’s hard to believe an actual person wrote this book- anyone who went through school would be wary of repeating so much. I got through first 3 serial killers- Bundy, Dahmer and the Zodiac, ‘however, sadly’ had to quit.

Plenty of incorrect information

Really unimpressed. Shoddily written. Monotone narration. It wasn't even a good introduction for those new to the serial killer genre.

Bizarre

This book sounds like it has been written by AI using Wikipedia as its source. Managed to listen to half of it and then gave up. I’m not sure how factual it is?
