Publisher's summary

If it wasn't for Diggory Finch, the towns of Twin Falls would've been eaten alive by a incursion of monsters from the unthinkable beyond. Not that he's a hero, per se. It's more than he strung enough mistakes together in a row that something good happened, and wiped them off the face of the planet using the torrent of evil power that channels through him.

Heavy stuff.

But now, in the peaceful wake of a near-apocalypse, he finds himself falling in love with Alisha, starting up a gaming store in the family warehouse, and dealing with the Machiavellian eldirtch manipulations of the twelve founding families of Twin Falls: all of whom want something from him, and the power his family somehow controls.

And if that wasn't enough, Diggory and the cults of his hometown have no idea that when he sent those abominations away, he totally tore a hole in the barrier that keeps the really bad things out, and one of them slipped into town.

And that thing really, really wants to give Diggory a kiss.

Welcome to The Twelve: book two of The Darkness of Diggory Finch, a Lovecraftian eldritch horror series set in New England, filled with inappropriate humor, more gore than your average story, and more than a few moments that will leave you uncomfortable.

Chris hit this out of the park

Great follow up to book one. It hooks you in immediately and it is quite the ride. As soon as this downloaded this morning I could not stop listening to it. Looking forward to book three. Joe Hempel does a fantastic job as the narrator and really makes the story come to life. I totally want to be friends with Diggory. Thank you Chris for a great story. Now get to work on book three.

MORE PLEASE!

I’m not a great reviewer, but this is a terrific story. Well worth the wait and the credit. Diggory, is in the center of magic and a great mystery. Chris Philbrook peeled at bit of the onion for us, and left me craving the next course.

emphatic clapping ensues!

This book is the perfect 2nd outing for Diggory. it picks up shortly after the action of book 1 and takes that pace and dials it up a notch.

The characters and world are much more fleshed out and I have to say I loved the humanization that is brought into the story for people involved with the twelve is great and almost makes you want to like them.

job well done Chris!

A fabulous addition to the first book.

Wow. What a weird and fantastical story. Packed with frightening supernatural scenes and vivid horrors, that had me wondering WTF was going on. Another marvelous read by Philbrook.

Need More!

The story is getting better! More mysterious people show up! It’s a really great story that is just getting better. The new baddie is just creepy and even I want to bash it’s head. Hopefully the new book makes it soon!

Another fantastic book!

I’m beginning to think Chris simply can’t write a bad book! I love this series, his tesser series, and the AUD, series. I can seriously relate to Diggory in this book. His inner dialogue (and verbal one at that haha) is very similar to mine as well as his upbringing. Makes him very easy to relate to and root for. Best I can say without ruining the story. Listen to it or read it (or both). You won’t be disappointed! And let’s face it, if you are disappointed, you clearly have bad taste ;)
