Publisher's summary

From the author of the Wicked Bay series, comes an angsty YA/NA enemies-to-lovers romance. Cocky football players, school rivalry, and the girls who get in their way. Get ready...the Raiders are coming!

Hailee Raine only has to survive one more year. One year of life in her football obsessed town. One year of nauseating school spirit. Just one more year of her cruel step-brother Jason; and his cocky, arrogant, football-playing friends.

She hates them. Especially, Cameron Chase, the guy she thought was different.

Cameron Chase has the world at his feet. He has it all; good looks, talent, and the charm to go with it. He has colleges lined up at the door, all wanting a piece of Rixon Raiders star wide receiver. Until something threatens everything he's ever worked for, and only one person can quiet the war raging inside him. But he's supposed to hate her; his best friend's sister.

She's off-limits. Untouchable. She's trouble with a capital T.

Then Hailee finds herself in the middle of a football prank gone wrong...and suddenly hating each other never felt so good.

The Trouble with You is the first book in The Rixon Raiders series. All books in this series can be listened to as stand-alones!

Bully romance

In the grand tradition of enemies to lovers but with high school antics. Hailee is tough as nails and I truly don’t think I would have survived the bullying she endured. Her stepbrother Jason and his group of football gods are tiny terrorists. It’s really so good in that NA bully way. I enjoyed everything about it but would highly recommend not letting children under the age of 18 read this book. Cameron has a ton of potential to be a great BBF.

The narrators are kicka$$ and really capture all the angst and drama you love in NA.

There is a certain event towards the end of the book that really threw me. The way it was handled left me completely aghast. It took me more than a week to gets my thoughts together on this. If this were marketed for adults I wouldn’t bat an eye but I don’t like to normalize certain destructive behaviors against children. I had the same issue with the end of After and the second book in the Abbi Glines Field Party Series.

Overall it’s a really solid story and I would continue in the series.

Angsty and Drama-filled

I’ve been obsessed with high school/college bully stories recently and when I was reading the blurb for The Trouble with You , I was intrigued and interested. There was a lot of stuffed packed into this story –sibling bickering, high-school bullying pranks, angsty best friend’s sister yearning, slow burning longing, family crisis, rivalry and brotherhood of football, parental betrayal, and coming of age decisions. It almost seemed too much was happening at the same time and each element was shallowly addressed for the first 65% of the book which dragged the story on without any focal point. I almost gave up on the book, but the pace started to pick up and main plot of the book started to narrow and focus towards the later part of the book. I started to enjoy and anticipate Cameron and Hailee’s undeniable connection and the happenings between their close bunches of friends. There were so much potential in the series. The tiny glimpse of what was going to happen in the next book was tantalizing and promising; I might give the series another shot when Jason’s book is out.

Sarah Puckett and Wen Ross did an excellent job on the narration. Their voices brought so much live to the characters and I really enjoyed their voice performance.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

hot hot hot

Trouble with you is the first installment of the Rixon Raiders Series, and I cannot wait for book two. This is the story of a group of teens who are intertwined together, in some way or another. I loved all the characters, that were introduced. This is the story of Hailee, and her step-brother’s best friend Cameron. They have been at odds for six years, until things started taking a turn for the worst. I loved the storyline. Some of the crucial events that happens you can’t predict, and I love that. Hailee is strong ,sarcastic as hell, and I loved every minute of it. Cameron was just stuck in a hard place, and boy, do you feel for him. Also you’ll meet Flick, Hailee best friend, Ash and Jase, Cameron’s best friends, and as supporting characters in this story, they couldn’t have been written any better. I must say though Ash, has won my heart and becoming my favorite quickly. I can’t wait for the next book, because I have so many questions. This book has me recommendation 100%

Amazing!

Cameron and Hailee stole my heart in more ways than I could have imagined! This book was amazing. I'm not typically one to listen to high school/bully romances, but this book had me so intrigued by the blurb that I had to give it a shot! Needless to say, I was not disappointed! This story kept me hooked from the beginning! I also have to say the narration on this audiobook was superb. The narrators really captured me, making me feel like I was in the story! 🎧 Audiobook Obsession 🎧

Angsty Bully Romance

This was a refreshing YA/NA romance that was unlike so many that are out right now. It was a mix of sports romance and brother's best friend with lots and lots of bully angst thrown in. I loved the dynamic between the characters and the way we got to see them change throughout the book. The characters and story were unique and had me on the edge of my seat waiting to find out what would happen next! I cannot wait to listen to the next book in the series!!!

The narration was amazing! Sarah Puckett and Wen Ross did a great job bringing these characters to life!

The football rivalry with the opposing school is intense. The animosity between Jase and Hailee also ramps up. and when a prank goes wrong, with Hailee as the target, things get very intense. Loyalties are tested, A budding relationship is broken, and secrets are revealed This is my first book by l.a. Cotton, but it certainly won" be my last. Field goal!!! Amazing!!!

**Audio Review**

This is my first book by this author and wow was I surprised by just how much I enjoyed listening to this story of enemies to lovers. The narration of Halee and Cameron (Wen Ross and Sarah Puckett) was so amazingly good I was instantly drawn in. This YA story had it all from angst to drama to bullying and just plain old high school fun. I loved the sports aspect to the story and it really brought out the narrative. Halee is such a strong character for a heroine and I loved her tenacity and wit. Cameron will be in my list of book favs now too. He is the epitome of high school jock but there was more to him than that and I enjoyed his dimensions. Overall a wonderfully addictive audiobook written by a now favourite author delivered by one of the best narrators Wen Ross who was outed with an equally incredible Sarah Puckett. Definite recommended audiobook!!!

Enemies to lovers!

This is the first book in the Rixon Raiders Series. This is an interesting mix of new adult, brother's best friend, enemies to lovers and sports romance. The story is nothing like I ever read before. Hailee and Cameron's story is very angsty and heartbreaking. Hailee and Jason, her stepbrother, have an awful relationship. They hate each other. Cameron is caught in the middle of their war. The story is heartbreaking and heartwarming afterward. I love the ending, and can't wait for the next book in the Series. Sarah Puckett and Wen Ross did an amazing job with the narration. I enjoyed listening this audiobook. #AudiobookObsession

LOVE This Audio!

Sarah Puckett and Wen Ross are two of my absolute favorite narrators. To have them do a book together was pure magic. I've read and listened to several other L.A. Cotton books and she always blows me away with the force of her characters and literary prowess. She is a brilliant writer, who creates unique characters that always wow you. Performed by two of the best in the game of audiobooks, this one was a slam dunk. Absolutely loved it.

great bully story

I was given this book from Audio Bookfly for a honest review. This was the first book from this author for me and I loved it. The story surrounds several strong characters and a very strong storyline. Cameron has been attracted to Hailey for a long time but is best friends with her stepbrother who hates her. She is bullied terribly by all of his friends. They try to stay away from each other, but there are people who want to hurt her to get to her brother. I highly recommend this book. The narration was fantastic too. Cant wait to listen to the rest of this series.
