An Adepta Sororitas novel.

Follow the ritual funerary procession of the most honoured of all Sisters of Battle, as the young Sister Avra faces a war both without and within.

Listen because: discover how the Triumph of Saint Katherine inspires faithful warriors across the galaxy, in a tale of courage and shame from the perspective of a young Sister of Battle.

The story: carried by six Sisters of Battle, each the embodiment of a revered saint, the funerary procession known as the Triumph of Saint Katherine marches from world to world, battlefront to battlefront. Where darkness and heresy are rampant, it brings faith, hope and courage to the warriors of the Imperium.

Sister Avra of the Order of Our Martyred Lady is honoured beyond measure to battle alongside the sacred procession in defence of the beleaguered world of Kiros. However, this bold young warrior holds a secret shame in her heart, one she believes can only be redeemed in death. As the darkness closes in on Kiros, Avra is overcome by a vision—and soon realises that the Emperor has far greater plans for her.

it's not so much the fault of the narrator about the singing cuz I have a feeling they were instructed to do it and it's not this isn't the only book I've had play that's had a singing bit in it and it's it's they're always basically just yelling because it's not so much the narrator's forte otherwise they do a perfectly fine job reading the entire novel acting out the characters doing the different voices but can we stop having them sing parts of the book

please stop having the narrator sing

the narrator did an amazing job. she really played the part and was a joy to listen to.

The Narrator made this book

First and foremost, anything Emma Gregory puts work into is top tier in my book. Secondly, this story shows how martyrs can shape the Adepta Soroitas by having a few of them tell stories to eachother, and I think that that is an amazing premise. And third, don't do Chaos, kids.

A fine tale of sisters bonding. Oh, and chaos is t

Feels like a short story, not a full length novel. If you haven’t read faith and fire or hammer and anvil I would start with those.

Doesn’t really go anywhere

i have been trying to find a good sisters story to listen too, but it seems like every book so far has been getting luke warm reviews.

i went into this one with low expectations, but it was (thankfully) a really good look into the mindset of each of the different orders of the sisters of battle.

the dialogue is a little cringe in the opening chapters, and i can do with a little less singing from a narrator, but the rest is pretty solid.

a small, self contained story that is a good break from galaxy spanning conflicts, or stories with way too many characters to keep track of.

definitely recommend to sisters fans. and even if your not, it gives you a peek as to why space nuns are so efficient in a galaxy filled with armored super soldiers and literal nightmares from hell.

Pleasantly surprised

She’s got a perfect voice for battle hymns, rich and soaring and powerful. The story and all is good, but I’m mostly just here to shout out how great a match her singing voice is for this material.

Emma Gregory singing is a delight

The singing was annoying and I have liked to hear more of the philosophical differences between the sisters.

The sense of pious zealotry permeating the sisters entire existence.

a good Adepta sororitas novel, enjoyable but a bit much from the voice actor.

a little over the top with the dramatics

If you have read any other books about the Battle Sisters, you can pass on this book. There is nearly nothing of note in this pseudo-anthology story that gives new perspective or interesting... anything really.
I've read 50+ books in the Warhammer setting and this is the first that I just couldn't bring myself to finish. Got to the final chapter and just had to stop.
The ONLY redeeming quality of this book is the narrator. She has narrated several other Battle Sister books and always performs well in my opinion.
But good grief this story just goes nowhere. Some characters exchange stories overnight during a lull in an active warzone. They argue over small differences in religious perspective. Each story is framed like a loose legend told of past triumph's and lessons learned. All of the individual stories fell flat to me and just threw me out of being engaged with this book. One story is even a canon conflict or must have been part of a retconned moment in the history based on who they claim killed a past historically significant character.

This is the first time for me that I felt like I completely wasted time with a Warhammer book and I truly don't see how this entry has so many good reviews.

A pointless story

The writing is weak, the story isn't very interesting. The performance is disappointing at times. Somebody should have coached a better melody for those hymns. She does well in most other areas, it's really surprising to me that she was good with it.

Subpar
