About this listen

An easy-to-understand introduction to Judaism's most sacred text

The foundation of Hebrew and Jewish religion, thought, law, and society is the Torah - the parchment scroll containing the text of the Five Books of Moses that is located in every synagogue. This accessible guide explains the Torah in clear language, even to those who were not raised in the Jewish religious tradition. Christians who want to know more about the Jewish roots of Christianity need to understand the Torah, as do followers of Islamic tradition and those interested in the roots of Abrahamic faiths. The Torah For Dummies explains the history of the Torah, its structure and major principles, and how the Torah affects the daily lives of people who follow the Jewish way of life.

Excellent — thorough and humorous — an easy but informative audiobook. Would definitely listen to another audiobook by this author.

The contents are very enlightening and encompassing. Only the reading was dull and monochromatic. But I have listened it till the end.

Good, but…sounds like a machine reading

I started studying Kabbalah and needed some general understanding of the Torah for my studies. This was just what I needed. I first listened to Kabbalah for Dummies which was also very helpful. I enjoyed the narration in Kabbalah for Dummies a little more, but overall the performance here isn’t too bad once you get used to it. Overall, if you are a Torah and or Bible newbie, I recommend this book.

Great resource!

If you have basic curiosity, this book has a lot of info. However upon cross referencing, many of the things presented are commonly translated differently.

Good intro but some problems
