Publisher's Summary

A sizzling story of everyone's favorite couple from amazing Stephanie Evanovich's New York Times best seller Big Girl Panties: hunky professional baseball player Chase Walker and his sassy wife Amanda.

When pro baseball player Chase Walker first meets Amanda at her restaurant, it's love at first sight. While Amanda can't help noticing the superstar with the Greek-god build, he doesn't have a chance of getting to first - or any other - base with her. A successful entrepreneur who built her business from scratch, Amanda doesn't need a Prince Charming to sweep her off her feet. And a curvy girl who likes to cook and eat isn't interested in being around the catty, stick-thin herd of females chasing Chase and his teammates.

But Chase isn't about to strike out. A man who isn't interested in playing the field, he’s a monogamist who wants an independent woman like Amanda. His hopes rally when she discovers that squeaky-clean Chase has a few sexy and very secret pre-game rituals that turn the smart, headstrong businesswoman on - and into his number one fan.

Then a tabloid discovers the truth and turns their spanking good fun into a late-night punchline. Is Amanda ready to let loose and swing for the fences? Or will the pressure of Chase's stardom force them to call it quits?

Couldn't finish

I think the summary should have included the fact this story is about a dom/sub relationship. I have no interest in this kind of book. I listed to about 1/2 the book hoping the story would change, then couldn't stomach anymore.

Lightweight, Fun Read

I read this before the first book in this series, Big Girl Panties. I am glad I did because if I had read Big Girl Panties first, I would not have read this book. Even though Amanda and Chase were the only likeable characters in Big Girl Panties, I was so frustrated with that book I never would have picked this one up.

Throughout most of The Sweet Spot, Amanda and Chase are an enjoyable couple to get to know. I had a couple of issues with Amanda. First, she is originally developed as a strong-willed, independent, ambitious and successful woman. As she falls for Chase, all of those strengths seem to disappear. I understand that being in a relationship with such a famous person might necessitate changes in her career and personal time priorities, but her change was far more dramatic than that. I also think that the author used the couple's mild "kink" as the excuse for this dramatic personality change. Which seemed terribly judgmental, narrow-minded and unrealistic to me. Finally, I thought her handling of the crisis was entirely out of character of the woman she is in the first half of this book.

In spite of this, I still enjoyed the book. Parts of it were quite humorous and as inconsistently written and as disappointing as Amanda was, by the end of the book, Chase was a well developed and consistently portrayed character.

The narration was very good.

Meh

Any additional comments?

Initially, I had high hopes for this book. The first couple of pages hinted at humour, feistiness and characters I could get into. And then...I don't know what happened...at about 30% in - I had to stop. When a book actually distracts you - makes your thoughts slide into a hundred different things that have NOTHING to do with the book - then clearly that book is not for you. I believe that to be the case for me - this book started to bore me and thus I couldn't finish. Maybe I will go back to it - I'm not going to return it - but should I finish it - I will update my review.

Should mention that this is out of normal romance novel

I hated this book. I love Stephanie evanovich but I hated this book on so many levels. I did not enjoy seeing a woman who claims she is independent and her own woman morph into this dependent, easily swayed woman. What happened to this woman.? This book also deals with a sexual fetish that involves hitting. Not for me. I wish there had been a warning label.

Light heart and funny with a little kink

Any additional comments?

The book was smartly written, funny, with a hint of kink that was not over done. The hero is in love at first sight, even with snarky comments coming his way. I loved the book because he went for the curvy girl and made her believe and want more. The book left me wanting more from Stephanie Evanovich.

Disappointing - I wanted to like this one.

Probably not. The narrator was a major contributor to the disappointment I had with this book.

The Sweet Spot

I absolutely loved this story! This is where Amanda Kohl met Chase Walker for the first time. I love that she took Chase to Vegas to get married. I love that they flew to Vegas to get married by Elvis, Marilyn Monroe and James Dean, so funny. I saw Big Girl Panties, and The Total Package, before hearing The Sweet Spot. I knew that she was only blackmailing him for him to realize how much that they were meant to be together.
