Publisher's summary

Is Christianity a bland, domesticated religion, unthreatening and easy to grasp? Or is it the most exotic, unexpected, and uncanny of religious paths? For the mystics and saints - and for Robert Barron, who discovered Christianity through them - it is surely the strangest way. "At its very center", writes Barron, "is a God who comes after us with a reckless abandon, breaking open his own heart in love in order to include us in the rhythm of his own life." What could be more compelling?

Great read for those curious about Christianity

Barron cites BobDylan, Dante, Flannery O’Connor, Scripture, movies and more! Benedict XVI wisely said to be a Christian isn’t about philosophy, but a friendship with the living Christ.

Catholic Faith Brilliantly explained

Bishop Barron is being for many people like me (the generation of dumb catholicism) the gentle apostle who guide us through history, literature, art, theology and the beauty of the Word to help us truly appreciate and return to the faith so we can be the hands of Jesus in this world.

Thought provoking!

Bishop Barron is a masterful writer and his passion really comes through regardless of the topic. He’s thoughtful, knowledgeable and this book is no exception. I only wish I had paid closer attention to who was narrating. I’m so used to his voice after we aching his lectures and YouTube channel that it’s distracting hearing someone else’s voice. They material comes across almost cold and detached, losing much of what is Bishop Barton’s trademark.. which is his genuineness and passion. It really hooks you into learning more. The narrator is good in general but for me, it would’ve been so much more meaningful if Bishop Barron had narrated.

All that aside, the content is worth the listen. I’ve learned a lot and will listen to again. Very informative.
