What an incredible journey into a culture and history that I had such limited knowledge of. A Beautifully written and told story that draws you in from the very beginning. How often do you finish a book feeling that it’s enriched you? This book does.

This story tells of great love, hardship and an understanding that true love can overcome class, culture, war and peace.

I just loved it

Maybe it’s not for everyone, see other reviews. But I loved learning a little about Hindu culture, I liked the growth of the main characters as the story progresses. I thought the performance was excellent. I’ve glad to have read/listened to this.

Full circle

I admit to having a difficult time getting into this story, starting out with a depressed woman unable to carry a baby to term 3 times is gonna give you some horrible depression. But I pushed thru that into the main character’s story - the storyteller- and was rewarded with a rich & compelling tale that demanded my full attention until the end. I would not want to spoil all the plot lines, but suffice to say a generational tale whereby the modern woman uncovers her grandmother’s life in order to heal her own. I loved this story & the characters are drawn out without the prejudice or judgments they were living during the 40s in the Raj era of India. Take the time to immerse yourself, you will cry happy tears.

Beautifully woven story

This is a beautifully woven story of self-discovery, family history, grief, and love. I enjoyed it very much. The Narrator is extremely talented with the different voices she performs. It was my first time reading this author's work, but I look forward to reading more books by this author soon.

I loved this book! Loved the characters! Loved the unique story! The performance was great! Kept me engaged and looking forward to doing chores, working out and running errands cause that is when I get to listen to my books!
