Great book full of actual content

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

I thought this was a decent guide to how to tell your story in a competitive business world. The author offers ideas and resources to help make your business a success. This book is not just a 30 min 30000 foot overview. There is actual meat here. Worth checking out if you are interested in trying your hand at content marketing.

So much fluff it’s hard to believe this guy succeeded in CM

Like long form 8 chapter explanations to 1 sentence concepts?
If you’re like me, your time is valuable and your credits are precious resources. This book is so full of padding, anecdotes and fluff that I simply don’t believe that this guy is a role model for Content Marketing.
To the author: maybe go read the book “on writing well”. In it it explains that often the best way to communicate a subject is through simple, succinct explanation. That’s in the first chapter too! What do they do in the other parts of the book? They cover new topics which layer the initial concepts.

This book is marked as a DNF. Like most self help books aimed at buzzwords and marketing, it takes tiny concepts and surrounds it with nonsense.

Basically:
- have a goal
- create a plan to your goal
- constant adjust your goal as you learn more
- stick to a schedule

How this author thought prefacing a book on action with 6 chapters of junk boggles my mind.

Great Overview of the Topic

I am new to content marketing so this was a great overview and introduction to the field. I feel much more confident moving forward, especially with the help of some online templates mentioned in the book. I do wish I had purchased the physical book to underline and highlight. I will have to listen again when I have time to take notes.

Great content gets more valuable over time.

If you're not creating [good] content regularly, you're failing at marketing, which means you're failing at growing your business. As the content marketing manager for a blossoming startup, I can attest to how difficult creating good content is, which is why Kyle's book has been indispensable for me.

The primary issue is that the people who are best at content marketing are unable to teach it: it's inate to them, and they can't dispense meaningful and actionable knowledge. It didn't come easily to Kyle, though, and that's what makes his instruction invaluable. Kyle gives templates and processes that have completely overhauled my job and, consequentially, my quality of life (I'm no longer stressed and baffled). Though you can certainly use this book as a reference guide, I recommend reading it front to back and then asking your team to do the same. The truth is that implementing Kyle's recommendations will garner more sophisticated, more valuable content, and that, in turn, will help explode your brand. If you want to be a successful content marketer, you need to read this book.
