Publisher's summary

In the Post-Break World of superpowers, every town has a story, and Mobile, Alabama, is no exception.

In Mobile, the waters have finally receded, but the streets run red with blood. For the past few years, the city's been the domain of the Melendez brothers: crime lords, murderers, and would-be kings.

Charity is forgotten. Compassion is a lie. Weakness is death.

Until the day an electric motorcycle rolls into town carrying a lone rider in black. They call her the Queen of Smiles, and she has a job to do.

Stories from a Post-Break World are short tales that take place in the same post-apocalyptic superhero world as See These Bones and the rest of the Murder of Crows trilogy.

A great addition to the Post Break World

The narrator does a phenomenal job voicing all the characters and pacing. All the books from the Post Break World are fanstic.

Why does the narrator use only one voice here?

I listened the Murder of Crows trilogy first, and the narrator, Joseph Vernon, does both. In the trilogy, he uses different voices, but here he does not vary his voice at all. Why??? If it was a different narrator, I’d at least understand that the performer didn’t want to Mimic the voice from the trilogy. But Vernon already has a voice for the Queen of Smiles. This lack of variance in voices is exacerbated by the story because it opens with a discussion about how manly her voice is and how melodic the antagonist’s voice is. Yet the narrator reads this and CHOOSES to be lazy and to make NO effort at performing. If this was at the end instead of the beginning it would not have left such a strong impression. Alas to highlight the poor narration from the outset ruined the whole thing for me.
