Publisher's Summary

New York Times best seller

After The Black Elfstone and The Skaar Invasion comes the next chapter in the Fall of Shannara, a saga more than four decades in the making.

The Skaar have arrived in the Four Lands, determined to stop at nothing less than all-out conquest. They badly need a new home, but peaceful coexistence is not a concept they have ever understood. An advance force under the command of the mercurial princess Ajin has already established a foothold, but now, the full Skaar army is on the march - and woe betide any who stand in its way.

But perhaps the Skaar victory is not quite the foregone conclusion everyone assumes. The Druid Drisker Arc has freed both himself and Paranor from their involuntary exile. Drisker’s student, Tarsha Kaynin, has been reunited with Dar, chief defender of what is left of the Druid order, and is learning to control her powerful wishsong magic. If they can only survive Tarsha’s brother, Tavo, and the Druid who betrayed Drisker Arc, they might stand a chance of defeating the Skaar.

But that is a very big if...as Tavo now carries the Stiehl - one of the most powerful weapons in all the Four Lands - and is hell-bent on taking his revenge on everyone he feels has wronged him.

Ben Holiday

Good read Ben. Love this series, but this one was my least favorite. I miss the days when Druids kicked ass. I thought this book was the final, but yet another to be continued book. I like big macs, so keep the sludge factory alive. Hopefully the next one will be fresh.

Needless cliffhanger

Enjoyed this story until the last 10 minutes. Cliffhanger after cliffhanger and made protagonists to look like utter idiots. Whether true or not we have to wait to find out? Poor choice to end this book. I fully expected Grianne to step out at the end and... no. <Sigh> No feeling of satisfaction as a reader at the end.

Terry still has it

The last few stand-alone books in the Shannara series seems like young adult, until this

So many reasons for the story not to end

So many reasons for this book not to be the last.
1. the Skaar shouldn't take over the lands without a fight. 2. Drisker Arc knew the whole thing was a trap. 3. the land's have gone without much of a druid presence before 4. the magic has come into the lands when needed 5. Tarsha should have seen it coming knowing it to be a trap and been prepared 6. it has been too good a series to end so suddenly,. All in all - the narrator did a great job of voices and of the rise and fall of the excitement.

AMAZING!

I grew up reading Terry Brooks and have fond memories of reading them with my dad. Terry always finds a way to leave a book with an intense cliffhanger. My heart is incredibly sad that Shannara is ending. Terry has left legacies throughout his life that I hope last forever.

Great as always from the master!

Sad that there will only be one more story, so thankful for the incredible imagination of Terry Brooks to take me to another world! The narrator was fantastic, just what is needed to take you into the story!!!

Terry Brooks at his best.

Very well written. You feel like the characters are real and your close friends or your worst enemies.
Great narration.
I went back and listened to the first two books so the third book would be fresh. I’m hoping there will be a forth book.

I’ve read any listened to every shannara book. This is a very good story. Simon Vance is impeccable as always . Half way through 1 book. But still excited about next story. To Mr Brooks sorry for loss of your daughter, and thanks for the years of enjoyment.

Strong Brooks Story, but Ended Abruptly.

I have been reading Terry Brooks since I was a youth, and the Shannara Storyline is great. Brooks has the ability, given to few, to transport me back to the joy I experienced as a ten year old boy. This novel is not dissimilar to the other works in his canon, but I was fully engaged, because the new characters are fully formed and their stories are exciting.
I was taken aback by the ended which seemed very abrupt, and unfinished, but unlike waiting a lifetime for GRRM to publish, Brooks will have the next volume out soon. All round thumbs up.
