the character building should be a lesson in how it's done

I have been waiting on book 2 for some time now. Steven Pacey brought me here l, but I came back for the story. I really enjoy this series and I'm excited for book 3!

Strong Flintlock Fantasy with great characters

Mr. Wall is back to deliver a strong, character focused story in his magnificently built Flintlock Fantasy world. New points of view are explored in this iteration that introduce elements of mystery and political intrigue that I really enjoy. This is a strong recommendation for any avid fantasy reader, especially if you're a fan of The Lord of The Rings, The First Law, Mistborn (second era) and The Powder Mage Trilogy. Steven Pacey also delivers an amazing performance, as always!

Honor and so forth

This book is awesome. It's full of great characters and exciting action. Peppered throughout is a story with such heartfelt moments that I teared up like a good five times, and such funny character stuff that truly makes you laugh out loud.

If you like fantasy books at all then do yourself a favor and pick this up. It's got it all - badasses, magic powers, monsters, magic swords, magic loots, magic spirits, 1v1 showdowns, huge 100+ people battles, a dashing rouge, a grizzled soldier, a super powered child, plus a healthy dose of flintlock gun fire. All the stuff you love.

I'd say for fans of Joe Abercrombie for sure

Great story and character and of course, narration.

Listened to literally hundreds of fantasy audiobooks, this was great and solid. Loved the two books hope there will be more.

Fantastic fantasy tale

Amazing continuation from the first! I was evermore immersed into the characters individual stories and decisions made. The development of the characters and story was great. The writing style and pacing felt very consistent from the first book, even when introducing new characters and new areas. Thank you again Steve for a great book and I cannot wait for the next title!

Very very good!

This is an excellent book. I have listened to well over 100 science fiction and fantasy books. This series is in the top 10. SP is the absolute best narrator in the business.

What you've been looking for

Sorcery, music, dragons, gunfights?

Wall delivers, and the narration is a wonderful performance as well. Each character perspective brings depth to the plot, and it's a decent length to really settle into and enjoy. Looking forward to the next installment.
