About this listen
The ancient motto, inscribed in Latin on a mysterious golden medallion recovered from the ruins of the Roman Empire, has guided Michael Tiranno to heights few men have achieved. Once an orphaned farm boy in his native Sicily, Michael made millions by mastering the intricate world of high finance and is now the fabulously wealthy owner of Las Vegas's Seven Sins, the grandest and most extravagant casino in the world. The lavish resort embodies the personal philosophy fueled by his lust for power: the greater the risk, the greater the reward.
But he also has secrets---secrets that he and Naomi Burns, his driven corporate attorney and confidante, have gone to great lengths to bury. When an enemy from the past threatens to undermine everything he has built, his dark history must now be uncovered. Together, they must tear open painful scars in Michael's heart and soul to discover the true identity of their unknown foe---before all of Las Vegas pays the price for Michael Tiranno's realized dreams.

Story
A terrorist bomb explodes during a South Korean celebration of the anniversary of the election of its first president. Alarms are raised in Washington. No one is claiming responsibility. The first suspect is North Korea. Could it be making a power play against South Korea and unification? If so, how will the U.S. respond? Paul Hood, Director of the Op-Center, must answer these questions. The Op-Center, a largely autonomous new agency which takes on the government's toughest security problems, is only six months old, and has never been given a foreign crisis until now.

Story
An explosion in the middle of the night reduces part of Paris' esteemed Pasteur Institute to rubble. Among the missing is the world's top computer scientist, Emile Chambord. Even though a terrorist group claims responsibility for the bombing, many in the intelligence community suspect the scientist was actually kidnapped and the bomb set to divert attention. Chambord may have been close to devising a working molecular computer which, in the wrong hands, could be the most deadly weapon in the world. If he were now in the hands of hostile forces, the consequences would be unspeakably dire.

One too many "kiddos"
Try as a might, I couldn't find one character in this book to like. Ultimately I had to choose the lessor of many evils. The author also felt the need to start a new chapter whenever the mood hit him. Often this was when he changed the setting and the time frame, which he did often. And that is one of the major criticisms I have for this work. It jumped around too much. This allowed readers to meet Max Price, someone we learned was killed in an explosion very early on. I would have preferred he remain dead as every fourth of fifth word out of his mouth was "kiddo," or so it seemed. This book wasn't horrible and if you like stories about the mob (I do) then it's something you might want to pick up on a sale (I did).
Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.
