Publisher's Summary

A Selkie prince forced to produce an heir. An omega destined to become a royal's fated mate....

Prince Kai's life as he knows it is now over. As the firstborn alpha to the Selkie king of the North, he's required to produce an heir - whether he wants to or not. When the Selkie Seekers finally present his fated mate, he dreads being tied to this stranger for the rest of his life. He can only hope his omega will be easy on the eyes and somewhat intelligent.

Raised in a family of good breeding, Luca always knew it was possible he'd end up the mate for an alpha of nobility. Only to whom, he never knew. Every time the Seekers summoned him for the humiliating presentation ceremony to royalty of all levels, he feared being stuck with some unbearable, abusive, or very unattractive alpha. As an omega, he doesn't have the choice to say no. Not only is it his obligation, it's the law. If he refuses, he and his family would become outcasts and banished from the Selkie community.

However, as soon as Kai enters the Great Hall of the North, it's clear the handsome prince is his alpha. Luca's pleased with the choice the fates made until the king demands that not only he become pregnant within six months, but produce an alpha pup with his son, otherwise he'll be cast aside. And getting pregnant might be a problem....

Note: An M/M shifter mpreg story, this is the first audiobook in the Royal Alpha series. Due to the "knotty" times in this audiobook, it is recommended for mature listeners only. It can be listened to as a stand-alone and, of course, has an HEA.

Pretty Darn Good!

So just to start off I am new to the MM Preg stories. I stumbled upon this genre by accident and I am so happy that I did. I read all the Selkie Prince books that are released and truly enjoyed this audio version even the "slick & knotty" times! The narrator was perfect with the tones of his voice. I would suggest this audio as well as the books. Thank you for the credit of this audio.

less empahsis on Anal leakage would be nice

interesting concept. but the main focus is on sex and not romance or any kind of plot.

there was a constant empasis about anal leakage aka slick. This is more of a transgendered story than a gay story because the author basically turned one of the men into a woman.

The Royal Alphas, Book 1: The Selkie Prince

This is the first book I have read or listen to by J.J Masters and I will definitely read/listen to more.
While I felt this book has a great story line and I am looking forward to the next book I did feel like the chemistry between the Omega (Lucas) and the Alpha (the Selkie Prince: Kai) was somewhat forced or lacking. I feel that it had more to do with the narration than the actual story but no mater what I still enjoyed the book. I enjoyed the comedy that came with the brothers all being together (especially the youngest brother - I am really looking forward to his story). I also found the concept of the shifting to be unique and unlike anything I read at first. While at first I was confused this had nothing to do with the story but that I had never read/listened to anything like it. It makes this story truly one of a kind in my eyes.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book and am looking forward to continuing my journey with the Selkie clan and others by J.J Masters.

Great first book.

The story has a great concept. The character development was good, but could be a bit more polished. I am waiting for the next book.

Great beginning

Great beginning to a new mpreg shifter series. It’s the first one that I’ve read to feature Selkies. The way they shift was interesting to me, and nothing like I’ve read before. The plot is the typical royal prince must beget an heir, and omegas have basically no rights, and the King is a royal douche canoe plot. And it’s done very well, so I’m happy because I love that trope. I love that love trumps all the royal b.s. and that the new generation will forge new paths. The setup for the rest of the series is well done and very intriguing. I loved the two main characters, their connection, and the fact that they aren’t your typical perfect characters. Kai has some of his father’s traits (he can be a jerk) and Luca was not your typical chaste omega. He’s quirky and fun, but you can get a sense of his underlying vulnerability.
The narration by John Solo was as outstanding as ever. I love his voice especially when he is acting the part of the omega type roles. They just suit him very well. I get so lost in his narration because he IS the characters. I can really get a mental picture of his characters as I am listening because he brings them to life. I am very definitely looking forward to reading and listening to the rest of the series, and I definitely recommend this new adventure.

Finding love in the craziest way

This is a great story with a different twist to a shifter romance. The characters are well developed and have great chemistry. Kai can be all alpha but when it comes to Luca he is a big teddy bear. Luca is sweet and sometimes I want him to be more bold and stand up to the king but he has his own way of dealing with things. Luca and Kai are perfect for each other and just a warning the king will have you wanting to hit something.

Great Story!

This is the first book by this author for me and I got to say it will not be the last. I think this is a great start to this series. Prince Kai and Luca make a great couple. It great to see the development of their relationship. Then we have John Solo who does the narration and I am in love. John just brings the emotions in this story to another level. I couldn't stopping listening to it. Can't wait for more!

The Selkie Prince's Fated Mate (Royal Alphas, #1)

I read this book when it was first released and recently had the opportunity to listen to the audiobook. What follows is my original review of the story and an added part for my review of the audiobook.

This is the first book I've read by this author and but it certainly won't be the last. I loved Kai and Luca together and was rooting for them the whole time. I also enjoyed that this was a shifter form I have not yet read as most are bears, wolves, and dragons. It was nice to explore that realm. There was a cast of characters who were all well written. I'm excited for the next book in the series.

The narrator was good. He did an excellent job of distinguishing the voices he gave to all the different characters. It was easy to hear when a new character was talking, even if the words didn't identify that right away. The reason for four stars instead of five for performance was because the narration was a little dramatic, even in times that weren't full of drama. It wasn't enough to turn me off to listening to it though and I would still listen to another book by this narrator.

Good story, well narrated

I liked the characters, both Alpha Prince and Omega were interesting by themselves and had a cool dynamic going. I loved narration, John Solo did a good job with voices for every character and made this audiobook interesting listen. I liked some parts in the story, I enjoyed how both characters dealt with obstacles, and the development of their relationship from the moment they met to falling in love. However, I waited there to be more, about them. I will definitely listen to other audiobooks narrated by John Solo and written by J J Masters.

The Selkie Prince's Fated Mate

What will happen when Prince Kai’s fated mate is found but the King is still not satisfied? Can Kai and his omega find a way to please the King and conceive an heir before their time is up?

Prince Kai and Luca may have been thrown together but as they work through everything their bond begins to grow and deepen. I enjoyed the development of their relationship and seeing the emotions grow between the two. Both men are great characters. It was nice to see Kai grow to understand that he can sometimes be more like the King at times than he realized and made amends for it. Kai and Luca make a great couple. I loved the banter between the two, it shows the depth of their bond and had me laughing out loud at times. Both men treat one another as mates and equals making for a beautiful story. Their story is full of emotions and angst that kept me engaged all the way to the end. Not only do the main characters have a lot to say but the supporting ones also make themselves known. The relationship between Kai and his brothers adds nicely to this story. Narrator John Solo does a good job of giving this story life. The emotions of the characters are felt as you listen to the narrative and it keeps the listener engrossed. This story is a great introduction to this world and I am excited to see what will happen next.

A fun listen with plenty of steam and a HEA

Fun story with shifters I hadn't seen before. Well paced with a great pair of MCs. Can't wait to hear the rest of the brother's stories. Excellent performance by a new narrator for me. I think someone got off too lightly at the end, but hopefully that part of the story will continue as the series unfolds.

Knotting Heaven

Such an entertaining read...
Escapism at it's best, l really enjoyed the totally unique world of the Selkie Kingdom.
Their shifter selves in Seal form, with the all important Seal skins, their heat cycles and the endless rutting.
My goodness was there lots and lots of glorious knotting happening.
Prince Kai and his Omega Luca were adorable in their love and passion, King Solomon a tyrant and a bully.
I loved all the side characters, like the brothers and the Beta servants and the human friends.
l was truly entertained throughout this story , and enjoyed the narrators sexy sounds he had to do, and the different character voices he had to produce.
I look forward to the next book.
