A fun beach read

Fun story well told by a narrator who captured the accents and voices well (I'm from Franklin County and have also lived in Roanoke, Virginia, where the story unfolds)

Be Careful Who You Work For!

Mackenzie August is back in full force agreeing to take on an investigation because his love interest Veronica asks for his help and its one way for him to get closer to her. The job is for her father/client… the problem is Ronnie’s father is a criminal who wants to find out who in his organization turned him in to the authorities. Needless to say, any job that Mac accepts is sure to turn into a big can of worms. Alan Lee’s second Mackenzie August book is full of action and laughs. Scott Ellis continues to provide what can only be described as perfect narration as he brings Mackenzie August and his off the cuff humor to life. I received this audiobook from the author at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

very good guy.

I really enjoyed this book. The characters are interesting and some are funny. Alan Lee's stories are very enjoyable. It is a nice change from some of the blood and gore of some mysteries I've read. Always a good ending.

Very Entertaining Read

The Second Secret is a great next installment in the Mackenzie August series. Mackenzie takes on Ronnie's(his love interest from the first novel) father as a client. Ronnie's father isn't the nicest of guys and is a criminal who is looking for a snitch and wants Mackenzie's help with it. This is a very fun and a great summer read, all the great characters from the first book are back as well as the humor and entertainment. August is funny and irreverent but serious when he needs to be and he gets the job done, more to his specifications than his clients but all is well that ends well.

The narration by Scott Ellis is great again and he really breaths life into the characters and makes this book breeze by.

If you enjoyed the first book I would definitely recommend this as it is another very enjoyable book.

Mackenzie August back and better!

I love Mackenzie August! Smart mouthed private detective gets in more trouble taking on a job for the father of the girl that has his heart, his only problem with her is the fact that she's engaged to someone else. Ronnie Summers father, as Mackenzie finds out deals in drug and illegal booze, moonshine that's made on property he owns. This is another fantastic crime adventure where Mackenzie really needs to learn to keep his mouth shut. Though I absolutely love his off the wall comments that leave most everyone stumped and makes him adorable, lovable and insanely hot.

Once again Scott Ellis brings the characters to life with a wide assortment of voices, which he does an excellent job at!
