The School That Love Built is an audiobook about social/emotional learning specifically for educators who are seeking to improve the cultures of their schools and create positive learning environments. The SEL strategies in this book seek to enhance the social and emotional issues students are facing in this time of crisis in public education. It is the story of one school that was transformed by the unique strategies introduced in this book.
In The School That Love Built, part two of her groundbreaking social/emotional learning trilogy, Olivia recounts the inspirational story of a school in crisis radically transformed by the unique strategies, methods, and tools introduced in her “how-to” SEL manual. Olivia’s innovative approach to creating a positive, respectful, familial culture is revealed in-depth, leaving educators with the knowledge, tools, and motivation to successfully apply her methods in their own schools.
In part two, Olivia elaborates on the skills of independence, a revolutionary program that empowers students to become independent learners who strive to reach their full potential. Her strong focus on emotional intelligence teaches students to be “smart about their feelings and the feelings of others”, and her ardent emphasis on the critical importance of teaching students to adopt a growth mindset motivates students to tenaciously persevere in the face of adversity.
Olivia maintains that in order for a school to enjoy site-wide positive transformation, the SEL curriculum must be woven throughout the curriculum every minute of the day, and the entire staff—including classified members—must consolidate as one united team in a communal effort to staunchly support the curriculum. The School That Love Built restores hope in the hearts of discouraged educators and offers answers to the daunting concerns that plague the public schools of America.
