Publisher's summary

An American girl finds her prince in this "fun and dishy" (People) royal romance inspired by Prince William and Kate Middleton.

American Bex Porter was never one for fairy tales. Her twin sister Lacey was always the romantic, the one who daydreamed of being a princess. But it's adventure-seeking Bex who goes to Oxford and meets dreamy Nick across the hall - and Bex who finds herself accidentally in love with the heir to the British throne.

Nick is wonderful, but he comes with unimaginable baggage: A complicated family, hysterical tabloids tracking his every move, and a public that expected its future king to marry a Brit. On the eve of the most talked-about wedding of the century, Bex looks back on how much she's had to give up for true love...and exactly whose heart she may yet have to break.

Loved it!

I could not stop listening to this book!!! Yes, it is a bit of royal fan-fiction.. but the character development is amazing!!!! The reader (Christine Lakin) has a lovely voice as well.. I will look for other books she has narrated.

LOVE!

I can't believe how much I loved this book. The story was engaging and well written, plus I'm a fan of a modern romance. However, the narration made it so I could not tear myself away. Bex and all the characters were brought to life and this is now my favorite book I have listened to.

Wonderful

The narration was "spot on" brilliant, which brought this story to life. A modern day fairy tale.

Obsessed with the Royals so this made me happy!

A take on the real Royals, and really entertaining. It played like a great movie I could check into on my commute.

Such an entertaining story!

The Royal We was such a nice surprise! I love royal romances and I definitely count this as one of my favorites. I'd never heard of it or the authors before, so for me it was a risk to purchase the audiobook and it was money well spent! The story was fun and entertaining with enough emotional twists and turns to keep me hooked. If you're into instalove and stories with lots of sex and little substance, then this is definitely NOT for you. Fans of slow-burn and character-driven romances, however, can safely purchase it. I loved Christine Lakin's narration; her voice definitely suits as the heroine's. She did a great job with the majority of British accents, and although Cilla's Yorkshire accent wasn't recognizable as such and her pronunciation of some words reveal that she (Christine) is not a UK native (e.g. Alistair, Balmoral, Berkshire, Inverness, chastened, ignominy), she was still wonderful. I will definitely gladly listen to this book again!

I was disappointed to discover that there is no sequel - I would love a book with the incorrigible Freddie as the hero!

Wordy albeit entertaining

I had a hard time deciding how to rate this book because I finished it and felt decently satisfied, but I also zoned out quite a few times and was still able to follow the story well enough. A couple times I rewound the book when I realized I'd drifted off into dreamland and realized I really didn't miss anything important. The books is long, and while that in and of itself is not a bad thing, it can be when the information presented doesn't add anything substantial to the storyline, which is unfortunately the case with this book. But again, I didn't hate it. A good premise and story, writing is good, just needed some major editing, as some others have stated before me.

A possible fictitious glimpse

It was worth the read! Some of the review I read before were not so kind. But as an Audible listener it was a great one!

I kept thinking "Princess Di" would love it!

What did you love best about The Royal We?

I love the whole small town girl gets the prince...I've always been a sucker for the Cinderella type stories. Granted she wasn't a "Cinderella" since she had a happy family.

Any additional comments?

This is just a sweet "Cinderella" type story. I just kept thinking of Princess Di for some reason...American girl marries her Prince Charming... I did enjoy the group of friends as a whole, however I knew from the start who would stab whom in the back!
