absolutely delightful

Grant's stories are so vivid and full of detail, I felt like I went along for the ride with him . he deserves every wonderful thing that has happened in his life. I highly recommend this loving tribute to the UK royal family and a life of service by the thousands of people who undertake this work as joyfully as the author.

Lovely listen

I really enjoyed this. The Audible version was especially lovely, and I’m usually not a fan of authors narrating their own books unless it’s a celebrity memoir. But Grant Harrold’s voice brought so much innocence and charm to the story that it completely worked.

What I liked most was that it did not try to spill royal secrets. Instead it offered a genuine and modern look at life in service. It was respectful, interesting, and simply a very pleasant listen. A refreshing change from the usual tell all style books about the royals.

Thus has been a sheer pleasure

Bring a fan if the Royal family, thus has been a delight to listen to. And the fact that grant is the narrator, just makes it perfect. All hail Isis, once you listen, you’ll get the reference. Cheers!🇬🇧🍸🌈🇬🇧

Heart Felt Tribute

Grant Harrold’s account of his time with the royal family is delightful insight to the private life of the most public people. As the daughter of a Scots woman who remembered when the queen was born, I enjoyed listening to his words as well as the story.

Two-thirds indistinguishable

I understand that the author is proud of his Scottish heritage. I am proud of mine. But he does his listeners an injustice by narrating this book. I could not understand most of what he spoke. It made my blood pressure rise. I found myself screaming at the screen or continually backing up to just try my best to understand the words. The only thing I have found this book useful for. Is helping me go to sleep because you can listen and not understand a word so it’s the equivalent of white noise. I am so disappointed. I have been on the waitlist for this book for months.

I couldn’t stop listening! Grant offers an engaging and sincere behind the scenes account of life in a world that the rest of us can only dream about. Loved this book!

A Labour of Love and Grace

A lovely book filled with delightful accounts of the author’s life focusing on time spent in the Royal household. Reread/listen value is high. Hearty laughter and rare insight is guaranteed. A wonderful companion to Grant’s YouTube channel. The Royal Butler is a treasure.

Very Entertaining!

I read some negative reviews before I purchased. Someone complained there were words they didn't understand. There are words in many books I don't understand, that's why I use a dictionary. But there were no words I didn't understand. Some people might not know what Hogmanay is. It's New Years Eve in Scotland. Otherwise, I speak English and the book is in English. Yes, he has a Scottish accent and it might take a few minutes to tune your ear to the dialect. Worth the effort because it is a great read about an unusual path seldom written about. Great writing and narration. Great story telling. And he is very witty. Not an ordinary tale and very entertaining. I had so many questions after this book. New curiosity.

Breath of fresh air!

It’s like being up close to everyday the life of the royal family seen through the lens of a child with a pure heart. It is so refreshing to learn happy and positive stories about the royal family when we are surrounded by seas of intrigue and negative stories. It warms my heart that the staff are invited as guests to personal events of the family. From the viewing of the remains of QEI, marriage of KC, parties for the staff etc. Highly recommended ! Its such a light and fun book to listen to if u want a relief from our everyday worries

The story

I wish someone else had narrated. And incredible voice and accent. As an American I had to focus on the words. It was very difficult to pay attention to the sentence when I kept trying to focus on individual words. I couldn't finish it.
