THE BRAND NEW REVELATORY ROYAL MEMOIR FROM THE SUNDAY TIMES AND NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLING AUTHOR PAUL BURRELL.

'A moving and at times jaw-dropping account - not just of his two decades when he had a ringside seat at the heart of the Royal Family, but also of the years since,' Richard Kay, DAILY MAIL

'For twenty-one years I was in a privileged position and shared the lives of the Queen and Princess Diana. Now that neither of these two wonderful women are here, that duty continues for me in the need to protect their legacy.'

For over two decades, Paul Burrell was a silent witness to the making of history - first as footman to Queen Elizabeth II, then as butler to King Charles III (then Prince of Wales), and, most famously, as a confidante of the late Princess Diana. Now, with a unique perspective shaped by time and change, he's ready to share his own story alongside theirs.

His bestselling memoir, A Royal Duty, about his friendship with Diana, sent shockwaves around the world, selling over two million copies. But it is only, in the wake of the Queen's passing and the commencement of a new royal era, Burrell feels he can finally tell his story in full.

In this deeply personal and intimate memoir, Burrell shares many untold stories of his life at home and abroad with the Royals. With warmth, candour, and rare insight, he recounts unexpected moments of intimacy with the Queen, who gently guided a fresh-faced, 18-year-old Burrell through palace life.

He speaks candidly about the tensions that simmered during those years - including the breakdown of Charles and Diana's marriage and his own complex relationship with Princes William and Harry.

He also reveals his heartache at parting with three of the most significant women in his life - the Queen, Diana and his wife Maria - all while navigating his own personal journey to happiness as well as a battle with prostate cancer.

Heartfelt, sincere and rich in detail, this is the memoir of a man who has lived and learned in the most extraordinary of ways.©2025 Paul Burrell (P)2025 Hachette Audio UK

I’ve read his first book several times, and I can already tell I will read this one more than once as well. Fascinating insight to the Royal Family!

The narration was beautiful and the story telling was very good. Good writer. It was a pleasant listen until near the end, when the writer suddenly flips into a sadistic dragging of Harry and Megan across concrete. He convinced the reader he loves Diana and the Queen, but batters her son and grandson with sadistic disregard. Then, it invalidates everything he had convinced me of before that. He identifies as a Royal family member. He was part of the tribe. So his writings reflect his own interests as a family member. Although there is much flattery, in between the lines there is statements that degrade people in The Royal family sparing only the Queen, William and Katherine. Even then, he is willing to knock out the reputation of her son, and their siblings. And even the Queen's husband. So, it's a disservice. It's not an impartial view. Although he was given an impartial role. I'm glad I bought the book for the interesting stories in between. This is the only book I ever listened to about the Royals. I have never been a spectator or a fan. I bought it because it was a memoir. And it is an interesting memoir. He has a calling as a voice actor. Very good narration. It's his viewpoint so it's valid. He viewed it from the servant's view. Many stories about the staff and their lives were far more interesting than the Royals, and were hilarious.

A book that everyone must listen to. A book to be loved, cherished and is unforgettable. Paul Burrell, thank you for giving me the opportunity to feel closer to the late Queen, Princess Diana and the rest of the Royal family. Thank you for sharing your life journey. I truly didn’t want the book to end. Paul Burrell is so pleasant to listen to. I am an American, yet love, adore and support the Royal family. Her Late Majesty held such a huge spot in my heart, her passing still hurts. This book only confirmed what I always knew,- that we will never see the likes of her in this lifetime. God bless you Paul, and thank you again.

A book that brought me laughter, joy and tears

I love how interesting Paul’s life has been. He has lived a life like few men of humble beginnings, yet remained kind and grateful for everything. I hope his remaining years are filled with good times!

I'm an American woman and I like Paul. I listened to his first book and yes, there is a lot of that in here. I feel this book is a standalone and you may wish to read it first before his Diana book. Beyond being the writer of A Royal Duty, Paul dives deeper into his relationships with other royals, his opinions of them in the modern day, his love for his Queen and his beloved Princess Diana. He discusses his homosexuality after being married for over 20 years to a wonderful woman with whom he is still his good friends. I had hoped to see something about him in Netflix's The Crown along with Diana's personal protection Officer Ken Wharf but there wasn't, and I totally understand why he would be disappointed in that. This is the story of an unlikely young man from England's coal pits who became a highly respected member of the Royal household and dear friend of Her Royal Highness Diana. Diana was born one year after me. I remember crying when I heard about her death that night as I watched the news here in Minneapolis. I have always been a fan of hers.

I did listen to Ken wharf's book and I enjoyed it. I'm having trouble with Tina Brown's book read by Roslyn Landor as she makes it sound like she's reading Bridgerton's. It's funny that I started with Lady Colin Campbell's book and found hers to be more "my sources told me" and through the grapevine "details" that were less likely fiction.

I'm a fan Diana, and a believer of Paul.

What made this story so compelling was his expressions of love for the queen and for Diana. You knew that this memoir was true. I cried anew tears I shed when Diana died and was surprised at how fresh the grief was after all these years.
