Any additional comments?
I don't usually write reviews but this book was so beautiful I had to share. Not only was the story great the narration was wonderful Barbara Rosenblat is one of my fav narrators but she out did herself on this book she made the characters come alive for me. The story made me cry and Barbara made it real. I love romance novels and don't get me wrong I do like a little trashy sex scenes sometimes but this story just didn't need it. I loved it! Buy it! Worth your credit ? Yes!

1879 Liberty Meets Her Match
In Colden, Massachusetts a rag-tag family of Romanian squatters have moved into Professor Sawyer's home . . . brusque, oddly handsome and protective, yet totally out of line, taking over their house, Michael manages to charm Liberty (Libby), the professor's daughter . . . for a little while . . . with the court case looming to prove who actually owns the house, Libby and Michael begin to forge a friendship . . . as do Libby and Michael's sons, Luke and Andre . . . and Libby learns more about Michael's wounded sister, Mirela . . . the story is multi-layered, very interesting . . . with the inventions of Professor Sawyer, Libby's paintings, the story of the roses, and the wonderful weaving in of the making of perfume . . . but the very best . . . its the heart of a woman to see the best in others . . . to seek out good . . . which only comes from our Lord . . . not from a book, not from school, not from a university, but only from God . . . for He gives us beauty from ashes . . . The Rose of Winslow Street is one of the most satisfying, and GOOD books I've ever listened to . . . its not religious, but it is full of the kind of love that only God gives . . . BRAVO, Elizabeth Camden!

Great read. Some places in the book should have been expanded but the book was enjoyable. The main character (Libby) eventually got a backbone to stand up to her father with the help of Michael (the other main character). Romance, intrigue/mystery. Finished the book in a day.

A trifecta!!!
I have listened to several other Elizabeth Camden books since I discovered this author because she is a very well-rounded author who does her homework and is very ingeniously creative with characters and plots within a well researched historical context. This novel is now my favorite from this genre. Here is why I consider it a trifecta: 1) The character are superbly developed! Each character's personality and/or peculiarity come through extremely well. 2) Elizabeth Camden also creates a very intricately woven storyline building a true verisimilitude by making the plot seem plausible with well developed pieces like geopolitical contexts, cultural issues, and historical context. 3) And as if the story were not already rich in so many ways, the narrator, Barbara Rosenblat brings the nuances of the different cultures to life with her expertly delivered accents . Bravo!

I'm stingy with my ratings.
This story is a gem with layers. The hero isn't perfect but he loves fiercely and loyally. The object of his love is the typical female. Her kindness makes excuses for family which causes her to not comprehend someone valuing her the way he does. She grows into it. His love for his sister makes him look like a brute in the beginning but he has layers.
I read the story originally and when I heard the sample audio I had to do it again even tho some of it is hard to experience again so soon. So good

Awesome story and Narration!
This is going on one of my favorite books list! I didn’t want it to end! I love the history and cultures and how he is an amazing gentleman and really understands her and sees her for her. And how she was able to handle her father with love and honor in spite of how he was to her. I wish I could do that. And he honored her for that too and waited for her! Wow. Truly beautiful. I wish my father could learn that. And God would send me that one person I would be able to trust and be myself with.

Unique storyline
Loved this storyline and the blending of the cultures along with the themes of art and plants as well. The narration added so much to the story. Will have to look for other titles she narrated. Although you can get past the narrator when it’s needed it really makes a story 100x better when it’s as good as this one.

Awkward and Dull
I don't know if it's the narration, the book itself, or the combination but this audio book fell flat for me. I couldn't finish it. The narrator did a great job with the accents (Romanian) but her portrayal of the Mikhail made him sound like a 50 year old man. The story itself was OK but for whatever reason I couldn't get into it. I may try this one in print and see if it's better that way. I'm not a fan of the audio version.
