Great writing, and great narration!

I love Devon Daniels style and these two narrators always do a great job of bringing it to life. Hope she keeps writing more!

The Rom Con written by Devon Daniels. This is a great book! I love the sneaky way that she kept referring to the 1950’s manual and just dragged him along with her! It had me captivated and grinning from beginning to end!

Smart and sweet!

Similar vibe to Meet Me in the Middle. And I love it when rom-com books are about rom-com writers: the self-awareness is really fun. BP is fabulous in narration, as always.

So sweet. How to lose a guy in ten days is one of my all time favorite movies and this was very similar. Loved all the references to the tv show friends too!

The first book she wrote was great so I have been patiently waiting for another. Did not disappoint!

i was looking forward to listening to this book after the author's first book. I love her way of using real articles as the basis of her novels.

Couldn't finish the book

Spoiler Alert!

The book sets a premise for a feminist romcom, but as far as I'm concerned it fails on that account. The MC goes from having strong opinions about herself and the world to "bending" to what the Man wants.

You can think whatever you like but I got so irritated that I couldn't finish the book and that irritated feeling stayed with me. It might be that my expectations were to high, but that was how I felt.

An example is how the MC excuses the fact that Jack owns a misogynistic magazine. Yes she says that she doesn't like it, but she still goes along with it.

Another example is the argument at the event where he finds out. What she did was wrong but that doesn't excuse how he treated her and how he talked to her. She breaks down and begs for forgiveness, but it should go both ways. Nowhere can I see that he does the same when she explains and as stated above begs for forgiveness.

I continued for a bit after that to see if it would come but it didn't so I decided to quit listening as the book only left me with an irritated feeling and I listen to these types of book for the opposite feeling.

I can see that most people here have written that they liked the book and if that is the case then I'm glad for them because I think it is a well written book. What I don't like are the characters and the story.
