Publisher's Summary

Longtime defense attorney Mickey Haller is recruited to change stripes and prosecute the high-profile retrial of a brutal child murder. After 24 years in prison, convicted killer Jason Jessup has been exonerated by new DNA evidence. Haller is convinced Jessup is guilty, and he takes the case on the condition that he gets to choose his investigator, LAPD Detective Harry Bosch.

Together, Bosch and Haller set off on a case fraught with political and personal danger. Opposing them is Jessup, now out on bail, a defense attorney who excels at manipulating the media, and a runaway eyewitness reluctant to testify after so many years.

With the odds and the evidence against them, Bosch and Haller must nail a sadistic killer once and for all. If Bosch is sure of anything, it is that Jason Jessup plans to kill again.

A different view

This story is told from the eyes of Mickey Holler, Harry Bosch’s step brother. Together with his wife and his step brother Mickey will work on the prosecutors’ side to convict a child murder who has spent that last 24 years in prison. Most of this book is from inside the court and the trial for this child murder, it was interesting to see another side of the stories, instead of the side from the cops, now you see the side from the lawyers. The ending is not what I expected but it was still very good. I would recommend this book. My favorite character in this book is Mickey Holler’s ex-wife, she is the best at what she does, most of the book is from Mickey’s about her character and how she is in the courts, which makes me like that character even more.

Really?

Great story! I love Bosch and Haller working together, but what a letdown when it ended so soon!! Seriously a very vanilla ending, and it seemed rushed.

Good story again.

I think the reader should read some Harry bosh books. He almost made Harry seem average.

Haller or Holler?

Where does The Reversal rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It is one of the easiest to listen to because the dialogue is verily simple and most of it is written first person.

What other book might you compare The Reversal to and why?

Very similar to the first two Mickey Haller books.

What does Peter Giles bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Not sure. The nice thing about reading a book is you create your own image of what is going on. Giles does a good job, though.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Not really. I don't this is an overly emotional book. It is just told well and is easy to follow.

Excellent, fast-moving - lots of twists & turns

If you could sum up The Reversal in three words, what would they be?

Fast-paced thriller

What did you like best about this story?

Combination of Haller & Bosch characters

What does Peter Giles bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Makes the characters come alive

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes

Any additional comments?

Hope there are more Haller/Bosch books

More Harry Bosch!

Would you listen to The Reversal again? Why?

I'd listen to this book again - but not immediately. I'm a mystery/legal thriller addict and find that I can go back to many that I've enjoyed and re-listen. This is one with enough twists and interesting characters that I'll be back to it in the future.

Have you listened to any of Peter Giles’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I'm in the middle of listening to the Harry Bosch series and have become familiar with how the voices of the characters "should" sound. I liked this performance!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Defense attorney crosses the aisle to retry a "cold" child murder, makes some key mistakes, but uses the best homicide investigator to unearth new clues.

Any additional comments?

Michael Connelly has a great series with Harry Bosch!
