Publisher's Summary

In the final book of Shelby Gallagher‘s A Great State trilogy, Julie and Ned embark on their perilous journey from Colorado to Pierce Point, Washington, where Julie will rescue - and adopt - baby Addison. Julie hopes to save her from the danger that is only growing more extreme as society continues to collapse, and Addison can no longer be safely cared for by her biological parents.

Meanwhile, unrest in Oregon continues to intensify and violence in the city becomes deadly as cultures clash and lawlessness begins to rule. Strange murders are happening regularly, and the guilty parties will go to great lengths in order to preserve their freedoms. The Rescue chillingly shows the lengths people will go to, so they can survive and thrive in times of chaos and uncertainty.

Will Julie and Ned survive the mission through the mountains so that they can save an innocent life and help usher in a new generation of self-reliant survivors? What will become of Julie’s ex-husband once he surrenders his parental rights? Will Julie’s incompetent brother make it through the collapse on his own? Will the violence that is overtaking Oregon make its way to the Great States?

Great series until book 3

The 3rd book in the series closely followed 299 days in that there were several side stories that bears no relevance to the main character. In book 3 the author injected new characters which encompassed Portland's LBGT community but it had absolutely nothing to do with rescuing the baby. I listen to every chapter about Patrick and the community in Portland, however, after having finished the book I wish I would have fast forwarded through those chapters because they were a complete waste of my time and added no value to the book. Based on the format of book 3 alone I would not recommend this series

Disappointing end to the story!

Very much enjoyed the first two books. They were well developed and left you wanting more. While I was satisfied with the close out of the Julie storyline, the author introduced a new tangents that seemed to only be a filler that was under developed and not well thought out. Also a few main characters were also left unresolved. Again 5 stars to the first two books but this was a disappointing end to a trilogy I had enjoyed.

Almost a waste of a credit

The Patrick and grant matson threads are extraneous and a waste of listening minutes. So much more could have been done fleshing out the rescue. The Barbara Rachel and or Steve storylines could have easily replaced the wasted minutes used for Patrick and Grant and thus added value to the overall story. Nice try Shelby, while you writing style has promise, you underwhelmed in this third instalment.

Confusing

Really enjoyed the first 2 books but when this book started talking about everyone associated with the night club I thought there was a glitch with Audible and that it started playing another book. Didn’t seem to follow the story of the main characters.

Better than some

This series started out good but went down hill pretty quick. Some things made sense but a lot did not. I won’t spoil it for you.

Excellent read

All 3 books in the series are excellent, I would recommend it to anyone but especially to that special person in your life to nudge them into a prepared mindset. Shelby did an excellent job, in my mind, of portraying a woman’s view. It gave me as a man a better perspective of how my wife views my obsession.

I devoured this story.

Honestly, it was refreshing to hear about this subject from a womans perspective. I love the post collapse subject, but sometimes it tends to be so much about us testosterone fueled shoot'm up guys. This is a real look at so many things we don't think of and an intriguing story too. I really like how it is briefly tied into the 299 Days series; just enough and doesn't rely on it. I really wish there was more to this story. Once you go through this trilogy, you will want more.

Wonderful story. Keeps you involved to the end!

Loved these 3 books and couldn’t wait for the next book as I finished each one. Shelby please keep writing more stories as you are a terrific story teller. Lessa did a fantastic job narrating also. Awesome!

Another great book by "Shelby"!!

Love the way this book ties other aspects of people's lives together. There's about 3 or 4 subplots that address how different things go down.
