Nothing will be as it was. Cities will crumble to ash. Ashen wastes will become lush and fertile. Rulers will serve, and servants will rule.

Pentamuria, the world of five kingdoms, is in a time of change. The power of the nobles and mages is threatened. War is upon them, although they do not know yet when or with whom. Thus, the mages are gathering in their capital, Ringwall, to prepare together against any possible enemy.

At this time, the orphan boy Nill is found by the Druids. He possesses considerable magical skills. So he is taken to Ringwall, where he is to be trained in the magical arts alongside his fellow students. Nill, who is an outsider, shows no respect for the traditions of the magical world, and challenges the ways of the mages.

Soon this mages start to ask themselves: Could this powerful stranger bring the foretold end of their reign?

If yes, Nill has to be dealt with. By whatever means....

I would not pay for this book, but if you have some credits, this is really not a bad book to check out. Initially, I thought this book started slow, there are some missing development points of the characters, but they are eventually entertaining and the story did get captivating. Towards the end unfortunately, he evidently needed to get to some points and left out huge sections of dialogue. Or something of importance! Anyway, I still gave it 4 stars, it was a fun listen, and the performer is wonderful.

pretty good

Any additional comments?

I really hope the next two books get recorded soon. would be a shame for this to wined up an unfinished set. especially since it's apparently not easy to find English versions of the other two?. idk google returns weird options.

Can't wait for books 2 and 3.

Its a decent story. The flow was a bit off here and there. I never felt the build up for the final two/three battles...they felt rushed and lacked in depth. I will probably listen to a sequel, but I am concerned the story could fall apart easily. I subtracted a couple stars for this, the storyline is walking a very delicate edge.

As a side note, Mr. Perkins did a decent job through much of the book, but in several instances the voices of two or more characters began to merge. It became difficult to figure out who said what. I subtracted a star for this, but it is really a solid 3.9 star job.

Good story

simple at first. depth in the middle. giant cliffhanger at the end.
it starts slow but it soon ramps up the story in short order and finally concluding with something you can easily see coming but even though you know its something that's going to happen it still remains a giant cliffhanger.

zero 2 hero
