An audio edition of the famous Red Book text and essay.

The Red Book, published to wide acclaim in 2009, contains the nucleus of C. G. Jung's later works. It was here that he developed his principal theories of the archetypes, the collective unconscious, and the process of individuation that would transform psychotherapy from treatment of the sick into a means for the higher development of the personality.

As Sara Corbett wrote in the New York Times, The creation of one of modern history's true visionaries, The Red Book is a singular work, outside of categorization. As an inquiry into what it means to be human, it transcends the history of psychoanalysis and underscores Jung's place among revolutionary thinkers like Marx, Orwell and, of course, Freud.

The Red Book: A Reader's Edition features Sonu Shamdasani's introductory essay and the full translation of Jung's vital work in one audiobook. The Red Book is skillfully narrated by Mike Fraser. Produced and published by Echo Point Books & Media, an independent bookseller in Brattleboro, Vermont.

Something to hear more than once. Hope you enjoy this as much as i did.

one of a kind

This work is demanding but luminous, the kind that rewards patience with flashes of recognition. Jung’s descent into his own chaos shows that the inner world is not a puzzle to be solved neatly, but a landscape to be entered bravely.

It reminded me how costly it is to keep our edges tucked in, to regulate ourselves under watchful eyes. Yet when the eyes fall away, there’s a thread of energy that lingers effortlessly.

That’s the paradox: how something can be so close, yet remain out of reach. How you can walk away trying to convince yourself that neutrality is wise, even when it can feel like amputating something alive.

In the end, Jung shows that the psyche can grow in both closeness and separation. Distance doesn’t erase what’s true. Sometimes it teaches us how to hold it more carefully.

Dissonance

Having closely studied the Thoth tarot and other older occult systems and philosophies will help one make some inexplicable sense of all this...great narration

Tough Slogging, but Worth It

Great book! I’d give it 5 stars but the chapters are mislabeled, needs to be fixed.

Jung’s psychology is rich and colorful, narrator was fantastic.

Much of this book is biographical commentary about Carl Jung. The actual text of The Red Book doesn't begin until the 26th chapter.

Brilliant

This book is difficult you have to simultaneously decode symbolism and difficult concepts from that symbolism. The symbolism adds depth to the book that makes it one of those books with infinite meaning.

This book causes dreams

I am still working through the thoughts and ideas this book has brought me to. My soul is very grateful for the encouragement to bring requital, and I feel a definite upgrade as to how well I know and understand myself. Thank you Carl for undertaking what must have been a challenging journey with little available guidance

Stunning and enlightening

you don't have to be particularly intelligent, but you have to have some background in a subject material

Carl Jung in his life and works has created an amazing amalgam of psychology and spirituality. In fact I do believe it is the first-of-its-kind.

It means I will be taking a new tangent in the way I look at the world.

this is not for everyone
