Publisher's Summary

Samuel Hoenig answers questions for a living. And as a man with Asperger's syndrome, his unique personality helps him ferret out almost any answer there is. But his latest question is a rather odd one: who stole a preserved head from the Garden State Cryonics Institute?

Arriving at the scene of the crime accompanied by his new colleague, Ms. Washburn, Samuel finds that what started out as a theft has escalated to murder. With suspects and motives emerging at a rapid rate, one final question remains: can Samuel's powers of deduction uncover a killer in the face of overwhelming odds?

The curious incident of....

If you ever wanted to know what would happen to Christopher Boone(The curious incident of the dog in the night-time) if he grew up in america and became a detective(somewhat) then this book is for you. A very endearing character. looking forward to the next one. also, very well narrated.

It is "Asperger's" NOT "Asberger's"!!!!

Since we have to cases of Asperger's Autism in our home, I thought I knew what to expect. This is a great little mystery. I am very impressed with Samuel and was thrilled the way this case turned out for him. If you are the least interested in the way an Asperger's mind works, this is a good place to start!! I can't wait for the next book!!! Bring it on Audible!!

Surprisingly good!

I wasn't sure what to expect but I thoroughly enjoyed a new twist on a mystery story. The fact that the narrator/hero has Asperger's syndrome was used quite effectively to tell the story from a unique perspective. I was pleasantly surprised. The only real flaw in my view is that the police were portrayed as unrealistically ineffective, but it kept the tone of the story light and a bit humorous. I look forward to the next book in the series!

Great fun!

As a clinical psychologist, I enjoy books in which the authors express what I consider as psychological truths. No Aspergergers' expert I; however I thoroughly enjoyed the description from Samuel ' s perspective. Also appreciated the humor throughout. Thank you!

Some whimsy

Tho no actual humor. The Rosie Project and 600 Hours of Edward are more humorous adventurous books that have a protagonist with aspergers. This one does have adventure however, while the characters attempted to solve the mystery. For some reason I have never cared much for mysteries.....

The No. 1 Rule for whodunnits is…

…“It must not depend on big, honking, astrononomically unlikely coincidences.”

Unfortunately, this one does.

The portrayal of Asperger’s Syndrome is naïve and the author’s understanding of high-school chemistry is in doubt.

Easy and enjoyable listening

Decent enough.
I have run out of credits so I’m making my way through the ‘included’ library which is how I stumbled across ‘TQotMH’, it’s not necessarily one I would have spent a credit on, but for some easy listening to potter around and do some housework to, it’s fine. Excellent narration, good quality audio, daft but genre-appropriate plot, it’s good enough that I will certainly look for others in the series on included or daily deals.

What made the experience of listening to The Question of the Missing Head the most enjoyable?

The well balanced narration from Mark Boyett.

Who was your favorite character and why?

That's a hard one!
I like Samuel, Ms Washburn and Mrs Hoenig...as they all bring something to the story in their own right.

Which scene did you most enjoy?

When Samuel knew something was wrong with Ms Washburn.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Laugh.

Any additional comments?

This is one series that I will continue to follow...just like all of E. J. Copperman/Jeff Cohen books. They are all a delight to read!

More please!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Would definitely recommend. I loved the interaction between the hero and the leading women.

What other book might you compare The Question of the Missing Head to, and why?

This was described as what the protagonist of "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night" would do as an adult and it was just that.

Any additional comments?

I hope this is the first of many. A joy to listen to.

Very enjoyable

Nice little mystery with good strong characters well portrayed. A great insight into Asperger’s syndrome- with Samuel explaining his feelings (or lack thereof) wonderfully well.

Found this book really enjoyable. As bedtime reading, when I'd got a fair way through it resulted in a lack of sleep as I had to keep listening to find out the ending!

Absorbing, amusing & a window into neurodiversity

The story is told from the point of view of Samuel, who is neurodiverse and wonderfully self-aware. The story is about unanswered questions and murder. The characters are wonderfully rounded and complex and there is sometimes a blurred line between emotional pain and humour. Life is hard for Samuel in a largely neurotypical world, but questions are simple, whilst his companions are the opposite. The story is unusual, interesting and addictive. Highly recommended.

An absolute joy

This is possibly one of the best books I’ve listened to. In its own right it is funny, sweet and a good mystery.

I have an adult son with High Functioning Aspergers and we have the same
Relationship as in this book. I replayed some of the passages to my son who laughed so much to hear how accurate this was.

Great book

Great read.

I worked in the disability field for 40 years or so retiring 10 years ago. The character brought back many lovely memories for me. I found myself chuckling and comparing him to some of those I worked with.
Thank you.

Quirky, different and enjoyable

This story is told with a different voice which certainly makes you think about things we say everyday. Quiet humour and a bit of a twist, though I saw it coming. I’ll listen to the next in the series
