Clayton Miller's life is a mess. His career as one of the country's best comedy script writers has stalled, and his long term girlfriend has left him for his ex best friend and ex writing partner. At a remote country house he meets Alice. Alice Shoemaker is a voiceover artist who habitually goes to great lengths to avoid telling the truth. After agreeing to help out a friend, by shopping and cleaning for the unknown man staying at Cuckoo House, she soon becomes suspicious that her strange and obnoxiously rude client has something to hide. But equally so does she. When they discover the truth about each other they form an unlikely friendship, but then Alice discovers Clayton has betrayed her in the worst possible way.

This is my first Erica James book. Took me a couple of chapters to get into it, but once I got into it I really enjoyed it. The narrator was lovely to listen to and did wonderful accents.

Like watching a movie

This was the best audiobook ive listened to-the narrator was very animated-made listening to this book like i was watching a movie-

I found this story to be captivating! I couldn’t wait to get back to it, time and again. I was a little sorry to see it end! The characters are distinct and evocative, and the story delivers at every corner. Very satisfying, indeed!

Enjoyable and well rounded

This was one of those books that delivered more than it promised. Well written, plenty going on, depth of characters and some interesting twists. Satisfying.

Great narration.

Juanita McMahon is a wonderful narrator. She brings this book to life. The story is complex and interesting.
