Publisher's Summary

Contains the first three books in the Purge of Babylon series, including The Purge of Babylon: A Novel Survival, The Gates of Byzantium, and The Stones of Angkor.

Stay out of the dark. Load up on silver bullets. And whatever you do, stay alive.

Creatures that once lived in the shadows, hidden from humankind, have risen, spreading like a plague across the globe over the course of a single night. Their numbers growing exponentially through infection, these seemingly unkillable creatures have swallowed up whole cities and collapsed unprepared governments. Survivors call it The Purge. Against all odds, a disparate group of survivors has emerged from that blood-soaked night that devastated the planet and reduced humanity to an endangered species. But surviving The Purge was one thing - staying alive is another matter entirely....

Well done twist on the usual zombie type books

This book gets better after the first hour, so give it some time. Also, the narrator talks really fast, so I reduced the speed to 90%, then it is perfect. Love the character development and the vast number of personalities in this book. And lots of running, fighting, evading, etc. Who can say no to 41 hours of entertainment for 1 credit!

Cringeworthy, but had some potential

So many issues with this book :( Way too much reliance on dialogue, and the dialogue was cliché and irritating. There was no character development, no realistic reactions to death, and too much time was spent on "he/she is my boyfriend/girlfriend, I have to go after them". Everything that happened in the book was extremely predictable, mostly because of the lack of character development and every character either bring distinctly 'good' or 'bad'.

The only reason I finished reading the book (which was a total struggle) was that I had interest in the ultimate plan of the 'ghouls' and kept hoping that a bit more about their motives/history would come out. despite this, I won't be reading the sequel to this book if it's written, as waiting through the rest of the novel for something interesting to happen was very very painful.

Characters as flat as pita bread.

Man, if I have to hear the phrase "Dead, not stupid" again I'll shoot myself. There were SO MANY repeated phrases in this book, I felt like I was being brainwashed.

The characters in the book are just...not there. I can't feel anything for them at all. Some come, some die, and I found myself forgetting the names and not caring in the slightest.

The premise was cool, but without any real back story to the main character except one guy is straight laced while the other one is the joker, I really don't know why I should care if they get killed.

I didn't care for the narrator either. All the bad guys had exaggerated southern accents and the women all seemed too weepy, except the cocky ones who all seemed too cocky.

And then there were the moments after some terrible thing happened, and the characters were all joking around. There was no reflection or emotion from the characters; just an internal monologue like "She knew she would never forget it." But then, on to the next one liner.

All in all, just didn't do it for me. Give it a try if you like.

A good storyline

What did you like best about The Purge of Babylon Series Box Set: Books 1-3? What did you like least?

This is an interesting story with good character development but is also annoyingly discordant. It is fairly obvious that the author has no first hand experience with firearms and quite often has operation, effect, range, and accuracy wildly wrong. At times it almost reads as inaccurate anti-gun propaganda.

I’m stuck

I’m stuck. I’ve listen to much to put it down I don’t like it or not to keep going. Character development thin and characters are repetitive. And I’m not sure if it’s the book or actually the narrator causing me to just like the narrator but I find his voice irritating.

I listen to some good books and great books mediocre books and horrible box but I’m not sure where to put this on the scale. I just can’t believe he wrote 15 more. Anyhow, Gotten this far I don’t know if I can continue.

Difficult

I had a difficult time stopping the book. I could not stop listening!
I find the narrator has a good range of voices and puts a lot of effort in to showing how the characters emotions, through his voice.
I have bought the next two books in the series. And I’m loving every minute.
It’s such good value for money 3 books, over 41 hrs, for one credit. Give it a try I’m glad I did.

A bit tedious

Nothing wrong with the narrator. Story started good. I tried to finish it, I really did. But it just wore me down. The immature jokes were fun, enjoyed them. The monster thingys were a different direction and pretty good too! What annoyed me a bit was the way everyone went around banging each other? Ok, end of the world hedonism, but settle down. Few other things I think - it's weird, there was no one single thing that killed this for me and I can see how people would like it. I did too. But after a while it started to drag. Then it was a chore. Then it got deleted from device to make way for new stuff. I don't like feeling like I have to finish a book just to get it out of the way (and in this case I didn't). A shame.

Seriously???

Got to chapter 4 then had to turn it off.
Honestly comes across as someone in their very early twenties trying to chance their arm as a writer.
Ridiculously unbelievable characters and dialogue. Poor narration too.
If you want a really good zombie book try Mountain Man or the Zombie Fallout series. This is poor, very very poor.

Box set good story good value

Good series that keeps your interest. My only gripe and it's only a story- But Getting shot at the end of civilization would be a traumatic and life ending event. Not for these guys who are up and running the next day. Better that a hero constantly getting missed by the baddies I suppose.
