Publisher's summary

For the first time in history, the world shut itself down - by choice - all for fear of a virus, COVID-19, that wasn’t well understood. The government, with the support of most Americans, ordered the closure of tens of thousands of small businesses - many never to return. Almost every school and college in the country sent its students home to finish the school year in front of a computer. Churches canceled worship services.

“Social distancing” went from a non-word to a moral obligation overnight. Moral preening on social media achieved ever new heights. The world will reopen and life will go on, but what kind of world will it be when it does? It can’t be what it was, because of what’s just happened.

Professors Jay Richards, William Briggs, and Douglas Axe take a deep dive into the crucial questions on the minds of millions of Americans during one of the most jarring and unprecedented global events in a generation.

  • What will be the total cost in dollars, lives, and livelihoods of this response from governments, on advice from science?
  • What role have national and global health organizations such as WHO played in this? To whom are they accountable?
  • What evidence do they rely on in sounding the alarm?
  • How did science bureaucrats, relying on murky data and speculative computer models, gain the power to shut down the global economy?
  • How did politicians, who know nothing of the science, decide whom to trust?

We need to know what and how it happened to keep it from ever happening again.

This is the most important book you can read

I am 75 years old, I was in Italy when the pandemic hit, I have four comorbidities, I got sick very sick but I was survivable. This book explains what happened the shut down is the worst policy decision in the history of humanity. Read this book and you are going to get very very angry, then give this book to a friend, and then do something to force the politicians to stop The lockdown

The most important book of the year!

Timely and well researched. This book is written by a biologist, statistician and a priest (yes, a priest). They give very clear statistical argument for criticizing how most western governments have handled the COVID situation. They ask the questions that the media does not allow, such as “is the cure worse than the disease?” By far the most important book of the year

Required Reading

This book should be considered required reading for every “expert” in every Federal, State, and Local government office.

And reading it would benefit the rest of us as well.

Thank you for your clarity, warning and hope.

You took data, events and outcomes most of us know and laid bare how we were duped by experts, the left and the media. Everyone should use your work as a basis for future discussion.

Why did we do it?

This book is probably the best in-depth look into why the world locked down the way it did. It sends a clear warning for any who will listen! You will be better informed.

well worth your time

a sobering reflection on the chaotic events of 2020 and the deplorable way it was handled by media.. and social media needs to be forced to choose to act as a neutral platform or a publisher - they can't be allowed to continue to act as both

How did covid hysteria happen?

A concise and factual explanation of the contagion that took place amongst the elites and policy makers exposing the flaws in modelling, precautionary principles and media distortions that got us to July 2020. A new chapter is now needed to explain the continuation of the covid dogma.

Excellent book!

Outstanding,well researched, absolutely must read!
Lithuania was mentioned in this book and it's true, people couldn't leave house,if you work in different council you needed permit to do so.There was police everywhere, roads were closed. Madness! And now they force jabbing people or threaten them to loose their job. Or it's just the way to wreck economy? Now in August 2021 if you not jabed and you don't have v passport you can't go to restaurants, cinemas , beauty salons, ext, they also try to do that for public transport and doctors, but some how wasn't able yet...

Interesting summery of facts

Don’t be put off by the right-wing stance of the writers. This book lays out a clear and intriguing summery of what’s happened over the years. All of the points raised can be confirmed at fact if you look into it.

Worth a read.

Not exactly the most interesting read, but far from inaccurate and a book for anyone, or perhaps everyone, to pass the 7 hours with.
