Publisher's summary

The Pragmatist’s Guide to Relationships presents a data-driven dissection of sex, dating, and marriage by taking a deep dive into academic literature and stress testing strategies advocated by “marriage gurus” and self-styled pick-up artists. Combining insights from these disparate fields, we construct novel models detailing how humans secure partners and make long-term relationships work, while exploring how these systems can be exploited to one’s advantage in a world of broken dating markets and plummeting marriage rates.

This guide acts as an instruction manual for mate acquisition strategies of all stripes, providing the foundation needed to excel at any number of tricky tasks - be it getting laid, writing a marriage contract, training a spouse, determining whether a partner cheated, exploring the world of non-monogamy, or finding the perfect long-term partner.

As with all Pragmatist Foundation books, the proceeds from this book go to nonprofits. In line with the foundation's goals, the book attempts to explore the topic of human relationships without pushing the agenda of any particular ideological team.

Absolutely invaluable

Do you want some kind of romantic relationship? Do you actually want to be thoughtful in how you approach relationships and not just do whatever vagueries pop culture has passed onto you? This is the book for you.

Are you a Christian looking to get married? Do you think you know how to do relationships already because you have the bible, church, and religious books? You do know how, but this book will make you better. Yes, it is written values neutral and so explains to you how to do stuff that is immoral. But ignore those parts, focus on what applies to you within the Christian framework, and you will be edified. (And I do speak as a Christian myself)

This book is marvellous, a true tour de force. Completely unsentimental and unclouded by romance, this book gives you just the facts in how to build a marriage worth a lifetime.

Interesting, Sensible Advice

This book focuses on instructing listeners on where, when, who, and how to look for potential dating and sex. It further gives instructions on how to best improve your relationship within your marriage. If you're not happy to leave things to chance, this book provides valuable insight into the who, what, where, when, and why’s of relationships. The advice is sensible and insightful.

The authors, Malcolm Collins and Simone Collins have provided a well-thought-out book with some vivid imagery to help further and strengthen their advice. I had to smile at some of the comparisons however in their advice. Easy to understand and follow, they break the advice down into relatable comparisons.

The narrator, Kelly Cletheroe gives a smooth performance. Her voice flows and is pleasingly lightful at times. She speaks clearly and with a steady cadence.

Overall, this book is insightful if you are seeking to date or perhaps even add a little spice to your marriage – they are some useful tips.

There were no issues with the quality or production of this audiobook. It was clear and crisp.

Super insightful

I wish I had read this book before college!

So many practical insights on human psychology and strategies to find the right connection at the right time!

Enjoyed reading it several times in my early 30s as I was trying to figure out why I wasn’t finding my person.

I’d deeply value Malcolm and Simone’s insights and how helpful they were in helping me recognize when I found my person 🥰
