Publisher's Summary

They vow to love, honor, cherish...

With her signature spirit, Faith Merridew has left everything she's ever known for the man she thought was the love of her life. Instead he leaves her name - and dreams - in the dust. That is, until she crosses paths with Nicholas Blacklock, a Waterloo veteran, who offers to save her reputation with a marriage of convenience.

...and then get to know one other.

A hardened soldier, Nick hides a deadly secret - and tries to keep Faith at arm's length. But even though Nick can command legions of men with a word, his orders go sweetly ignored by his convenient bride. And as they come to know one another more deeply, she brings out in him things he thought dead: gentleness, laughter...and love....

Contains mature themes.

LOVED this third book

I have enjoyed reading this series on the Merridew sisters, however, this third book kept me enthralled from start to finish. It was adventurous, funny and sad. Not often do I cry from stories, but this one had me in tears.

It was unexpected that this would be the book I enjoyed the most. At the end of book two it suggested that Faith had taken off with the flamboyant violinist and I had decided that was a mistake. Therefore, I wasn't anticipating the turn of events that befell Faith. The hero was amazing as was his friends. Many sad stories interwoven into this as it was the aftermath of war and loss.

The jest of the story is about learning to love, and working to make a respectful, strong relationship. You will love Faith's story and the supporting characters as well. There is sex and sexual tension, but this is one of things I like about romance novels.

Heather Wilds is an excellent narrator and creates voices that suits the characters. This can be a read alone story but you will miss much about the family and the history of why Faith reacts to some situations as she does. Well done Anne Gracie!

Best Book EVER!!!!

From the beginning till the end, it was an awesome sweet and tender story! I am a big fan of Julia London, Quinn and McNaught and this author and story is right up there with the best. I could not STOP till the end. Get your tissues out because you will be laughing and crying and totally transported.

The Narrator did an excellent 5 star telling of the story. Her voices were amazingly variable.

A perfect disaster

After reading the first book, I had high hopes for this one. This read was way too long, peppered with unnecessary verbiage and discription. The storyline, even for fiction was totally unbelievable, all around too silly if I could get my credit back I would. The narrator was the only bright light on this audio

Great story!

This story of Faith and Nicholas is an exciting and well written one! I liked it much better than the first two books. The excitement comes right from the beginning when Faith is running for her virtue from 3 drunken Spanish men (in Spain) and runs into Nicholas who saves her. Nicholas decides to marry Faith to solve (he thinks) her and his problems. But after they marry he holds his distance from her except for the marriage bed. They have a good physical relationship, but he will not love Faith, and warns her not to love him. She is confused but agrees. Of course neither of them can do so, and closer to the end of the book she finds out why. The story Mac and Estralita both good and bad - good that Mac finally opens up to a woman - bad because Estralita is so stand offish! However, the real reason, in my mind, that Estralita is in the story is because of her grandmother. I will not spoil the ending, which comes fairly quickly after they find where Estralita and her grandmother live. I cannot fathom why Mac likes Estralita because she is very annoying and demanding. But I do like that Faith and Nick end up having a future.

Beautiful Love Story!

One cannot stop falling in love with the characters! You laugh and cry with this story so beautifully written. Faith’s good hearted and brave personality along with her charming and loving hero Nick are the perfect couple that while enduring the past and trying not to worry much about an uncertain future, decide to live the present to the max. Thanks Ms Gracie for sharing your talent with us.

A refreshing and skillfully written love story

This book sent me through an engaging medley of emotions from laughing out loud, anger, deep sadness, empathy and joy. Each character was skillfully woven into the storyline and I fell in love with each of them. The steamy romance was beautifully relevant and meaningful and didn’t feel random or forced like in so many romance novels. The only negative in my rating is for the performance. Heather Wilds is one of my favorite narrators and I love her voice but with all due respect she doesn’t do a good Spanish accent. However, this book was well worth the purchase!

The Best Yet!

This has an inauspicious start seemingly quite unnerving and unlikely, given what we (think we) know about Faith. But, of all of the stories and characters that we met this far, this tale has the most diverse range and flamboyant personalities of the series. It is the definitive ‘coming of age/fish out of water’ tale and extremely unique in the telling.

Heather Wilds is just superb in this! She has SO MANY accents to pull out of the bag! Many of them flowing one after the other in the give and take of conversations. She handles them with both skill and authenticity!

I don’t know how this can be topped! The family dynamics are expanding rapidly - from 5 tortured but resilient young orphans, to a dynasty of 14 and counting... a thoroughly enjoyable series.
