Publisher's Summary

In the spring of 1685, Lord Hugo Everly, ardent supporter of the Protestant upstart the Duke of Monmouth, vanishes without a trace just before the Monmouth Rebellion, leaving future generations forever baffled as to what might have become of him.

In 2013, while visiting Everly Manor as part of her job as a location scout for a film production company, Neve Ashley stumbles onto a secret passage that leads her into the 17th century and straight into the path of the ill-fated lord. Neve is able to return safely to her own time, but she can't forget the man she met or the fate that's about to befall him. Against her better judgment, Neve decides to go back and warn Hugo of impending danger, not realizing that she's walking into danger herself, for history is never straightforward, and people's motives not always what they appear to be. Taken hostage by the very man she was trying to save, Neve is trapped in the 17th century, her fate now intertwined with that of her captor, and the future something that neither one of them could have envisioned.

Spoiler !

This book HAD NO ENDING. Really annoying trick to sell a sequel. Not appreciated, and I'll not buy the next one.

interesting time travel

Good story, held my interest. Not my favorite narrator. Main character sounded haughty and superior, not someone I could warm up to and feel for. I found myself repeating every line in my head to soften up voice. i suspect I would be very eager to start the next book in the series if the quality of the narration matched the quality of the writing. I haven't checked yet, but if it is the same narrator I think I will have to pass.

Love at first chapter!

I fell in love with this book instantly. There are multiple novels out there about time travel and romance, but this one does stand apart. The authoress writes believable and relatable characters that you can't help but want to follow.

The narrator does a great job of portraying the characters and has a very pleasant voice.

If you are a fan of Outlander, this is a great read. I can't wait to listen to the next ones!

Unfulfilling Romance

The characters are good but they just wander about and few of the loose ends ever get resolved.

I really tried..

I tried to trudge through this book, but plot and character depth were still absent over half-way through. I couldn't finish this one.

I'm hooked

A bright pretty young woman comes to the end a four year relationship when her pregnancy reveals that her lover loves himself not her.
As she moves forward she takes an assignment from the production company she works for to scout a location for a 17th century historical drama. She discovers a secret passage in the manor's church that takes her to that romantic period. Surprisingly I found this credible. Reminiscent of the Outlanders series the mix of romance and mystery in a believable historical context is engaging. I have already ordered the next book

Great story of now and then...

What made the experience of listening to The Passage the most enjoyable?

I enjoyed how the story seamlessly blended the main character of current year with past history. I like how strong and capable Neve is in the current and the past.

Which character – as performed by Eva Kaminsky – was your favorite?

I think Eva Kaminsky did a great job with the entire narration.

Any additional comments?

This is a multi-book series. I really enjoyed this audio book and was curious about Neve's future so I bought the second in the series.

Good story, uneven narration

What made the experience of listening to The Passage the most enjoyable?

The story

What did you like best about this story?

Time travel

Would you listen to another book narrated by Eva Kaminsky?

Not if she puts on a cod English accent, unless she learns how to do it properly. Her acting is fine, but her pronunciation is painful.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Neither. It was entertaining.

Great story but very odd pronunciations <br />

The reader had a very strange accent - which is sometimes annoying - the story itself is good and an easy listen

very similar to Outlander on Amazon Prime

I have enjoyed the story so far and intend to follow it up with the next tale.
however the narrator needs to be taught how to talk in the correct way. I appreciate she is attempting to depict the poshest of voices but means she incorrectly pronounces words and sounds very fake.
it would be good if there could be a male and female narrator for the characters but I guess that makes it pricey.
